My roommate is a dental hygiene major, which is great.  I get my teeth cleaned for five dollars and I get expensive products for less than half the store price.  There is not much I have to complain about having a dental hygiene major as a roommate.  A couple months ago, this same roommate introduced me to Crest Whitestrips Surpreme.  I am familiar with the regular version, but these were something different.  They are about seven times as strong as the regular Crest Whitestrips, which can be good and bad at the same time.

I had been previously warned by both roommates about the pain that these strips can create.  The back of the box said to use them twice a day for thirty minutes.  After using them just once, both roommates were in so much pain the next day that they couldn’t eat.  I managed to avoid this by buying a tube of Sensodyne toothpaste and using that for a week before beginning the whitening treatment.  Once my roommates did the same thing, the pain was no longer a problem.  There is some minor discomfort for a couple hours after use, but it’s nothing that can’t be managed.

An advantage of the supreme strips is that they are longer than the regular ones, so they cover more teeth.  This was fairly important to me since I show a lot of teeth when I smile.

One problem I did experience, though, was trying to keep them on my teeth once saliva began pooling.  Naturally, the top strips stayed put, but the saliva dislodged the bottom strips and they would become mangled and useless.  Also, it took me a while to get used to putting them in.  I often misjudged where it needed to go and I had problems taking it off of the back lining.  That was just something that took some getting used to, though.  Otherwise, application was not a problem.

There have been cases of people getting sick, to the point of vomiting, because of the peroxide.  My opinion on that is that they may be swallowing too much of it.  It is difficult to avoid swallowing the peroxide and I get nauseated (and sometimes have the hiccups) when I do.  It has caused no real harm, though.

Just make sure you don’t brush too hard before you use this product and use a soft brush.  I used a hard one with those 360 rubber things on them and they tore my gums to pieces, causing them to burn badly when I put on the strips.  Besides that, I would definitely recommend this product.  I noticed a difference after just three days and two weeks later, my teeth are as white as I could have hoped.  And I haven’t even finished the box!

Hello Lonely Cheese15,
Thanks for reading my Crest Review. Yes, most strips are designed to "stick" but these stick too good. Ha Ha
Then they fall apart and you have to use a tooth brush to get the pieces off-YUK and you cannot swallow them.
I will use the tray type from now on. Have a great day and keep smiling :.}

Thanks!

I think my Mom tried those. Are they the ones that stick to your teeth?

I have a soft bristled toothbrush, actually. =) And my roommate was using the baking soda with peroxide and it made the pain worse. I think it's because the White Strips are peroxide and then adding the toothpaste peroxide was too much.

Thanks, though!

Get yourself a soft bristled toothbrush, because as we age our gums naturally recede and using a hard bristled toothbrush is not good for your gums!

Save on the cost of special sensitive toothpaste - even if you do get it cheaper - by using baking soda and peroxide to make a paste to smear and massage lightly over your gums with your fingers about once a week. It keeps stains from building up too.
