After seeing all my friends pull out their iPod nanos, I had some serious mp3 player-envy. I wanted to be able to pull out my favorite song at a moments notice, but had balked at iPod's high price for a limited investment. Most people have stated to me that the battery gives up after 3 years. So I did some research and found the Creative website. The Zen is the equivalent of the iPod Nano, and the Stone is the equivalent of the iPod Shuffle.
I purchased a Zen V Plus (the high end model) for half of the price of a Nano. So far I am very happy with my purchase. Its the size of a fat box of matches and plays for 15 hours after only two hours charging. I can keep photos and videos on it as well - no more digging for pictures of my nephew in the bottom of my purse! There is even a calendar and appointment feature (but I havn't tested that out yet).
I recommend that people step off the iPod train and start looking at other brands. They are the same product for less money!
