Vado Pocket HD Cam: Great video at great price

5

This camera came at a very cheap price online a few months ago. After purchasing it, I realized that it is actually a very good camera. The HD picture is very good, and recording video on it is as easy as pressing a button. Since the camera is so small, then it is easy to bring along with you anywhere. I brought it to the museum, and it looks like no one at all knew that I was filming them, and the exhibits in the museum. After recording the video from the museum, I brought it home, and it looked like I was there again. The video was that good. I loved reexperiencing my trip to the museum, and this camera gave me the opportunity to do so. The hookup to the computer and its software is a cinch. You can watch the video on a computer, but it can also be watched on a high definition television using the HDMI connection and cable. Whe I did this, I saw everything that I had recorded on my large 46 inch LCD screen It was great. I would recommend this to anyone.

The Vado Pocket Video Cam solves a need at a decent price

This little video camera is the perfect solution for our family. We have previously used the video option on our digital camera, sacrificing video quality for the convenience of being able to record with what we had on hand. We would not be able to carry around a large camcorder to the park or playground, so we just used the digital camera. However, when I saw this camera for a good deal, I decided to take a chance. I have been very pleased. It's slim design allows me to easily fit it in my pocket and pull it out at a moment's notice. The controls are VERY easy to understand. Just turn it on and press one button, and you're recording, which is very important when you're trying to catch a kid's silly face or antics before they stop. The one complaint I have (and that others have had) is the sound quality of things farther away. If I'm holding a fussy baby in my arms and trying to record my other daughter singing, I catch more of the sound of the baby. This is because there is no external microphone. However, for my purposes, I can live with that. To get better sound quality I'd have to get a bigger and more expensive camera, so it was worth the sacrifice to me. Most of my home videos are done in 30 second or more segments and then dubbed over with music, anyway. It comes with a rubber casing to prevent scratches, so that is nice. Another thing I don't like is that it doesn't have a removable flash card--you have to plug the whole video camera into your computer. Since I don't always carry the cord around with me to do that, it would be nice to just be able to whip out the flash card and transfer videos onto the computer through that. It shoots in 720, which isn't the latest in technology, but I just didn't that that 1080 was necessary given it would cost me 4 times as much. Overall, very happy, and I would buy it again!

Creative Vado HD needs to support the future!

So this is my review of the creative vado. The cool thing about this little nifty camera is its small, takes some pretty decent HD quality with some good battery life, and comes with a nice white silicone skin cover. It works well with using it on a pc or mac. Appears as a jump drive with a dcim folder with avi files in it. The cons or bad news is this thing doesnt have a memory slot so no sdhc expandability. No external mic option. Has mono sound so theres no stereo to the hd you are recording. The zoom feature is very limited. The unit has become finicky after a while it will lock up or stay on without any way of shutting down the device unless you remove the battery from the unit. This device has been superseded bu kodak and smaller digital cameras which have more features. This unit does not take still photos. It does have a user replaceable battery some video software if you need to edit videos. I would like to see creative add more features to compete with the other hd cameras out there like the sony bloggie or panasonic or even kodak playsport.

Great pocket camera!

My 6 year old son received this as a gift  for Christmas, and we have enjoyed it just as much as he has.  It really does a great job as a pocket camera.  He likes to use it to make little videos for his grandma who lives 800 miles away.  The controls are very simple, and he has no issues working the camera.  It isn't HD, but you wouldn't expect it to be from the price.  It is great for taking short videos to post online, and it makes doing so simple.  It connects directly to your computer with a built in usb.  It also charges the internal battery while it is connected to your computer.  The software was very easy to set up, and it doesn't take long before you're uploading clips to youtube or photobucket. The built in microphone doesn't work so well if you get too far away, so the sound quality isn't going to be the best.  If you are looking for a camcorder to record your important family moments, then this isn't for you.  However, if you like to make clips to post online or simply want a video camera that is highly portable, then this would be a great option.

Perfect for kids young and old

This is the best pocket camcorder on the market.  The best part of it is the built in rechargable lithium battery.  Charges buy plugging into USB port.  My eight year old son loves it.  He tapes everything from TV shows to friends playing in the backyard.  The video is not High Definition so if you want that you will need to spend a lot more money.  Standard VGA video is actually not bad.  Copied some of his movies to the computer and they look pretty good.  Sound recording is not so great from a distance and it is not Stereo, just mono sound.  This does not stop my son from taking it everywhere.  This is one gift that wasn't played with for an hour then left in his room.  Battery life is good, indicator on screen is nice.  Rugged enough to withstand being dropped a few times. Easy to record and playback videos.  Would have been perfect if it tooks photos as well but still worth every penny.

Records, but can't view the screen

I received this video cam as a gift.  It was working good for a couple of months.  The problem I initially had was when I recorded 30 minute videos, it takes forever to attached to an email.  I used 5 different email clients and it never finished attaching.  AOL said the file is too big to attached.  It easily uploads to youtube and photobucket.  The problem I have now is that my screen is white and I can't see the images when I'm recording.  But I can still record someone and upload it to my PC.  When I upload it to my PC, I can clearly see the video.  Although it can still record, it's a problem because I would like to see the images/video while I'm recording to make sure I'm getting a good shot of the image or all of the image.
