Like so many of my generation, I was once part of the Matrix. The Apple Matrix. I was the Manchurian Candidate reared by its cadre of marketing agents, and they were the ghosts in my machine. I unflinchingly recharged my iPod every 38 minutes and religiously traded it in for the next model up every 6 weeks--even when the old one hadn't died (yet). I spent the equivalent of Burundi's per capita GDP every month on iUseless accessories-- even though I had sworn to never again take advice from their Customer Reps. I even let iTunes tell me what I can and can't do with my audiobook of Kerouac's On the Road. Oh, yes, I was once lost.
But now I am found. My life changed after my second stint in iPod rehab, when my sponsor gave me the Creative MuVo V100. Instantly, the angst of my old life was gone. All of a sudden, I could leave on a jet plane and still have John with me when I landed in Denver. I could even take a load off Fanny, and have her put the load right on me. And best of all, I could take a sad song, and make it better; remember, to drag it into my Muvu; then it'll start, to sound better... better... better...
Seriously, if you want an mp3 palyer without all the hassles and chains of proprietary technologies and software, then this Bud's for you. Just plug it into your USB slot and you're off. You can drag onto it whatever kind of music files you have (wma, mp3, etc.), or even use it as a regular jump drive to move data around. One AAA battery keeps it going for hours and it's light as a feather. Granted, you'll no longer be cool, but does that really matter when you're climbing a stairway to heaven?
