Crayola is a brand name known around the world for it's quality art products. Unlike many corporate websites, Crayola.comprovides product knowledge, activities for children to do with parents or caregivers and teaching resources. Visitors to the site can also find corporate information, however, it is not the primary purpose for the site.
Coloring Pages:
From the Crayola.com website children may access a variety of coloring pages designed for creativity, learning, and play. Many of the coloring pages may be printed and colored or can be colored on-line. Featured coloring pages include holidays, celebrations, crafts which may be printed colored and assembled, dry erase activities (learning to draw) and even printable glow board scenes which can be placed on the Crayola glow board and used to create pictures and drawings.
Crafts:
In the crafts section teachers, parents and caregivers may choose from the featured craft of the day or can perform a search based on type, theme and/or product. A main guide is also available for most holidays, even some not so well-known ones. Your search results appear and provide you with a "mini" picture of the finished product and a brief description. You can then choose from the options to obtain more details and instructions on how to do the craft.
Games and Fun:
Crayola.com also offers a games and fun center, where children can create greeting cards, parents can print out and design gift certificates and parents can find unique ideas for fun and games outside with or without Crayola products. Also available are on-line games and activities.
Product Knowledge:
In the product knowledge category Crayola product information is available and may be sorted according to use and age. With so many products to choose from, this site can be helpful in choosing your favorite products or new ones to choose. Of course reviews on Crayola products available on this site can let you know which products parents, teachers children and caregivers really enjoy.

For Educators:
In the for educators category, resources and ideas for teachers (and parents) is available for use in the classroom. Many topics are covered from teaching art techniques to integrating cross curriculum instruction with hands on lessons. Individual lesson plans based on grade level are available.
Parents:
The parents site offers parents with creative ideas for rainy days, fostering creativity, celebration and party activities and planning, special offers, and even tips on how to get out stains from products. It even includes ideas that parents and teachers can do together.
Support:
At the support site consumers can find out corporate information as well as have FAQ's answered.
Also available on the Crayola.com website is a holiday calendar, links to the Crayola Store, and a "how to" video to teach you how to do several of the crafts and project ideas listed on the website.
My Viewpoint:
Crayola.com is a wonderful resource for teachers from pre-school to high school as well as special needs students and children. I wish I had known about it years ago when I was a preschool teacher. So many services are available and they change frequently, providing a constant source of ideas and instructions for just about every occasion and every day use. Another very nice feature of the Crayola.com site is you don't have to join it to get the information. It is simply there for anyone to access, unlike many teaching and lesson plan resource pages. Crayola.com also provides for many outdoor activities combining creative opportunities with fine motor skills. Products are not "pushed," after all you can alway go to the dollar store and buy sidewalk chalk and still do the activities provided. It also gives parents product cost knowledge, allowing us to build our special products and purchases into our budget.
My only real "complaint" is on the lessons plan page, which is not comprehensive, put does provide several creative activities that develop imagination, creativity, hands on experience, and fine motor skills, but educators will need to access other sites to create a comprehensive lesson plan.
