Crayola Tadoodles Crayon Buddies Review Summary

Crayola TaDoodles did not score points with parents or their children. Though the Crayola TaDoodles are designed for young children and are supposed to be easier for their little hands to grasp and create with, most kids had a hard time using them. The shape and weight of the Crayola TaDoodles make them awkward to use. One mom complained about the mess these chubby crayons and markers made. "I know that giving a toddler art supplies can be a messy proposition, but these are beyond terrible!" said GMRsMom. One reviewer praised the toy for encouraging creativity, the bright colors and the fact that they are washable. Most reviewers, however, found the Crayola TaDoodles a complete waste of money and would not recommend them.

One of the most recent products to be added to the Crayola arts and crafts product line is the Crayola "TaDoodles."   With these TaDoodles, your young toddler does not have to wait till they are older to express their creativity or improve their fine motors skills. They are made for use by children...

When I first saw the Crayola Beginnings TaDoodles, I thought they were a great idea.  They may be a great idea, but in practice, they're terrible.

Each package only has three colors.  The markers came in red, green, and brown.  Brown?  Seriously, how boring is brown when you're only getting 3 colors...

Ok I purchased tadoodles because I saw a commercial for them and thought oh great what a good idea; since my now 19 month old breaks all her crayons.  I figured these would be perfect and couldn't wait to receive them from crayola.  Well I did get them today and was very upset with the order.  One of them worked but the other two seem to be defected or something.  The crayons won't lock in and keep falling out, plus my daughter pulls them out as well.  I won't return them because I have to pay my own shipping and it won't be worth me saving $2.00 anyway.  What a waste!  I thought... review »

We bought the Tadoodles Bath Crayons.  My son absolutely loves them... I personally don't care that much for them.  The colors don't actually stain, but you really have to scrub to get them off the walls, tub, etc.  Also, when we bought them, I noticed in the instructions on how to advance the crayon, it also tells you how to insert a refill.  We looked high and low for the bath crayon refills.  Finally I went to the Crayola website, still couldn't find them, so I emailed Crayola Customer Service, explained the issue and within 48hrs they had replied to me. The rep told me they actually did... review »

These are so fat they are hard to grasp for little ones and then once they hold them they are difficult to point straight down to write with. My son is almost 2. We first tried them at 16 months and put them away. We have both the first marks and the crayon buddies. I took them back out again to try now that he is almost two and it is the same problems. They are also not any less messy than regular markers or crayons. They look cute but are no fun for little ones!

Designed to fit small hands, these egg-shaped markers will help bring out artistic expression in any toddler. Available in two animal-inspired assortments, toddlers can make their first marks with a green frog, brown puppy or red monkey. A second collection allows them to express themselves with a pink pig, yellow chick or purple hippopotamus. Also, TaDoodles Washable First Marks won't topple over, don't have caps to lose and are specially formulated to easily wash off of skin and clothing. No batteries required. Ages 18 months and up.

From its earliest beginnings, Crayola has been a color company....

These are simply awful.  My girlfriend gave them to me when her two-year-old just used them to mark on herself and had graduated to crayons.  My kids (almost 3 and almost 1 1/2 yrs old) also use crayons but my son LOVED the new singing colorful noises on the tadoodle packaging (which I found annoying) and I thought they might be helpful for my daughter (15 mos) who likes to eat crayons instead of color with them.  Boy, was I wrong!  While my son (almost 3) did love them, they made a HUGE mess and were very hard to clean up.  I think I'll likely let him play with them again... but outside...

My son who is two received the Crayola TaDoodles for Christmas last year (08).  I had seen the product on store shelves but my then 18 month old was well versed with markers, finger paints, paint brush and paint, crayons, colored pencils, ink pens, etc.

So when I introduced him to the Crayola TaDoodles markers, he ALWAYS wanted to grab them from the top.  Then he would become frustrated that the Tadoodle wouldn't color.  Then his hand would be full of markers.  The best thing about Tadoodle's is the fact that they are easily washable and I had no problems washing the markers off his hand.

I thought that the Crayola Tadoodles crayons were an okay product.  They are available in lots of pretty colors, which is a plus when you are dealing with picky kids.  However, I think it is not so great that you can't use the entire crayon, my daughter can only color a few pictures before we have to take out the crayon inside, and replace it with a new one.  The crayons also tend to fall out when you are using them, which is frustrating, espceially when you consider how much more expensive Crayola TaDoodles are in comparison to normal crayons.  They are, however, easier to hold and color...

My oldest girl, now twenty seven months old, was given these for her second birthday.  At first they seemed like a wonderful idea.  But we used them once and they proved to be nothing more than a pain.  She could not comfortably hold them in her hand, and had little control over the "tadoodle".  Her coloring was messy, which frustrated her.  Not only that, but they were just plain messy.  She had a better time with a cheap package of regular or fat crayons and blank paper.

The marker "tadoodles" dried out quickly, and for the price you only get three color options.  My daughters prefer...

My little ones thought it would be great to color with these!  These crayons come in three primary colors.  My boys played with these crayons for about three baths.   Initially they were a lot of entertainment.  They colored all over the bath tub and then some.  The problem is, how many kids clean up after themselves?  Not only do you clean your kids, but now you have to clean the bathtub.  They can be messy, and the last thing a mom needs to do at the end of a hard day is clean up another mess.  They crayons were also hard for my youngest to hold.  My older son who is now 4 did okay. ...

When my third child celebrated her second birthday, a friend gave her the Crayola Tadooles as a gift. Before then, I had not seen them. Everyone, including me, thought they were so cute and colorful.

After the birthday party we unpackedaged all my daughter's gifts. She wanted to use the new Crayola Tadooles so I grabbed a sheet of paper to let her try. Because she was in the scribbling stage, she was quickly scribbling all over the page. It seemed that the shape of the tadooles was so fat that it was difficult for her tiny hands to hold. She could not see what the tadoodles was writing without...

The Crayola Tadoodles are so much fun and are a great way to bring out the creativity in your little one.  I have a three year old who wanted to color as soon as he was able to hold things, he has a big brother that he still watches and mimics almost dailiy.  It is great but he could would make a huge mess with crayons, markers and pens.  My mother in law found the Crayola Tadoodles and asked me what I thought about them, I told her that they sounded great and I had no objections.  She gave them to him for his second Christmas, he was about eighteen months old.  He loved them and played with...

Tadoodles are a total waste of money. They are supposed to be geared toward small children who also have small hands, yet the bases are huge and were very hard for my young son to hold.  The crayons also kept falling out of the unit, which kind of defeated the purpose of having them contained (if I weren't watching him, he could have easily grabbed hold of the fallen crayons and done the same destruction on my walls that I was trying to avoid by buying these in the first place!)  My son used them only a few times before I gave up and tossed them, opting for a normal, fat crayon instead, which...

My daughter recieved several of these for her birthday.  I was excited about them, but that quickly went away as soon as we opened the box.  She tried to color with them, but the crayons kept falling out.  The instructions on the box on how to keep the crayon in don't make any sense at all.  I finally just pushed the crayon in as hard as I could.  They stayed in for a little while, but eventually fell out again.  We have two more boxes of these that we haven't even opened yet.  She got frustrated with them and finally threw them on the floor.  She loves the little faces and will play with...
