One of the most recent products to be added to the Crayola arts and crafts product line is the Crayola "TaDoodles."   With these TaDoodles, your young toddler does not have to wait till they are older to express their creativity or improve their fine motors skills. They are made for use by children 18mths to 3 years old.

Similar in shape and size to the Weebles characters they are designed with a young child's little hands and interest in animals in mind.  Each item (whether markers, crayons or paints) feature a specific animal face.

The Crayola TaDoodles Crayon Buddies are round shaped with a soft crayon edge making it easier for your young toddler to scribble, an early form of writing.  They are non toxic, washable and available in packs of three. Each pack contains a red, green and purple crayon, or green, brown and orange.  A three pack box is approximately $6.99.

Children may also begin using markers for scribbling at the approximate age of 18 months with TaDoodles First Marks.   These markers are non toxic magic markers with the unique rounded bottom of all the Crayola TaDoodles line.  The rounded bottom makes it easier to hold by little hands.  Each marker design corresponds with its color, such as an orange marker has the face of a cat, the black marker the face of a penguin.

There are no markers lids to lose and to cause the color to appear you simply dot paper with it several times. As with many other Crayola products they are washable.  Each package contains three primary colors for a price of $5.99

Parents and teachers who want to expose toddlers to their first painting experience will enjoy the TaDadoodles All in One Paint Set.  The bottom of the paint brush again features the Crayola TaDoodle rounded end making holding the paint brush that much easier.  You don't need to add water or clean up messy water or tempura paints that may stain.  Paint flows from within the paint brush rounded bottom to the brush head. They too are washable and packaged in sets of three.  The price for one three pack set is $5.99.

My Viewpoint

Each of the TaDoodles products are well designed for little hands, but I have found that since the markers and paints do not flow immediately some children may become frustrated easily.  The colors are brilliant and truly are easily removable from most surfaces.  My children love the interesting animal faces depicted, The price is a little higher than most people may want to pay for a pack of three colors, however, each item, whether marker or paint last quite a long time. They are developmentally appropriate and allow children to explore their creativity through the use of color and scribbles.
