To the PointWe spent several days in Crater Lake National Park this summer. The sight of it brought tears to my eyes. — A Closer View — Where and what is Crater Lake? — Crater Lake National Park is in Crater Lake, Oregon on the crest of the Cascade Range. The lake is known for its amazing color. It's 6 miles long, 4 ½ miles wide and at 1, 943 feet deep is the deepest in the United States. — At one time this was Mount Mazama, a 12,000 foot volcano. About 7,700 years ago Mount Mazama erupted causing the top to collapse. Snow and rain fill what is called the… read full review »

We just got back from a wonderful trip to Oregon. We went to Crater Lake National Park and it was stunning. The cost was $10.00 for 3 days to visit the park. The lake was so blue and the sky so clear that you felt as though you could almost touch heaven. We took the "Rim Road" car tour and made many stops along the way to view, take pictures, and picnic. Rim Road is about a 33 mile drive and took us 3 1/2 hours to go around, but we were constantly stopping. There were a lot of foot trails to hike, from easy to extreme. This was definately a place to remember. — — We rented… read full review »

THIS IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE PLACES TO VISIT. THE VIEW LEADING UP TO CRATER LAKE IS OUT OF THIS WORLD AND THIS ALONE IS WORTH THE TRIP. THIS IS A PICTURE TAKING PARADISE AND YOU HAVEN'T EVEN ARRIVED AT THE LAKE YET. — THE LAKE WILL TAKE YOU BREATH AWAY. IT IS SO CLEAR AND BLUE AND DID I MENTION COLD. — THE TOUR WAS GREAT! IT WAS VERY INFORMATIVE ABOUT HOW THE LAKE WAS FORMED AND THE GUIDE STOPPED THE BOAT BY A FALLEN TREE SO WE ALL COULD SEE HOW FAR DOWN INTO THE CLEAR WATER YOU COULD ACTUALLY SEE. IT WAS AMAZING. — FISHING IS… read full review »

A trip when I was 15 still leaves an impression. Wonderful hikig, beautiful blue water, and the science and geology behind the lake is a fun, appealing and educational adventure. The weather is fantastic, and it's large enough you can certainly find secluson. Getting outdoors, and enjoying nature is so important at every age and this is one location where you can find lots to do for any level of physical ability. Rain or shine it's a treat for the whole family. —… read full review »

Crater Lake should definitely be on your list of places to visit! It is also a great camping spot! The lodge for dinner was a little spendy so I'd recommend bringing food and having a picnic. There are trails for a nice little hike. The drive was a little long from Portland so if you are coming from a long distance, it's best to stay at least 2 days. Great… read full review »
