Craigslist.com isn't for everyone, or for every situation... but what is? It's worth checking out if you're looking for a place to live, looking for something to buy locally, or a job... or just looking to be looking.
The thing I love so much about Craigslist is that it gives people the opportunity to get rid of things to people who may need it, and still make a little money for themselves. Sure you can donate to a thrift store, but how many people actually get around to doing that, especialy people with no truck or car to haul things. Besides... all the thrift store does is sell your item, you get nothing, and they profit. Craigslist is a way for the needy to sell things to others in need and actually earn a little something, at least in my case.
Plus I love the Free section. Some people abuse the system... but isn't that going to always happen? Sometimes you have something that you just don't want but is worth giving to someone who might need it.
There are some risks, but they can be reduced by only taking cash, and meeting in a public place or bringing along someone as a witness, or protector! ahahah. If you are concerned about the working order of something you'd like to purchase, try it out before you hand over the cash. I bought a Toaster oven (a $50 Red Hamilton Beach 6 slice Toaster Broiler, for $15) the woman plugged it in, in her kitchen to show me it got warm... and I didn't even ask.
As far as the Job postings, there are a lot of internet scam jobs, but most work at home stuff is, so if you're looking for work from home you can usually spot them after a while. Besides anyone with sense would know it shouldn't cost money to start a legit job.
Im not sure about the dating... cause I've never looked around there. Or the forums, but thats just not for me.
I have used Craigslist to looking for housing. I haven't found a place, but every place I call about has already been taken... I think that's Craigslist speaking for itself... someone besides me is using it!
The one problem with selling on Craigslist is that a lot of people say they want things, ask you to hold them, and then never show. I fixed that by keeping everything for sale until it leaves my house. I learned that everyone will give a sob story about how bad they need this or that... especially the free stuff... to try to get you to hold it.
So go to craigslist and just check it out, try it... you never know what you may find.
