Bought in 2013 to mow ~1/2 acre of home we've owned 33 years. Cheap Briggs Camshaft compression-relief broke twice in 3 years and required engine removal to repair. Deck always ran rough. Shift lever failed to go into reverse and had to be repositioned on trans. Ground-drive belt repetitively kicked off. Plastic carberator gas tank purge valve fractured off. Left steering drag link ball failed at steering plate and the bar twisted onto main engine pulley wheel. GARBAGE. Run -don't walk- away.

The crafsman yt 3000 42" 22 hp gas powered riding lawn tractor is a great value. It does a wonderful job on our 1.5 acres of land. It cuts evenly, has a nice wide deck, is comfortable and has decent horse power allowing for excellent mowing speed. It also has a good turning radius for a non-zero turn lawn tractor. This tractor was a great step up for us after we moved to a much larger yard. I still use our mower to go thru narrow areas, though.  You can avoid having to purchase a bag attachment by mowing when it is dry and also mowing every week or so, at least where we live. Mowing under these conditions allows you to throw clippings into the grass without clumps or giving the kids green sneakers!  The mower does get decent gas mileage but remember to always have extra gas on hand - nothing is more annoying than running out when only have the yard is done. All in all I recommend this lawn tractor as a great entry level lawn tractor that is backed by a solid company.

The Craftsman line of lawn tractors are of "Craftsman Quality" at an honest, competitive price. I personally find that the tractor is extremely dependable, hard working, and the "hydrostatic" transmission is the way to go. Craftsman also features a great line of attachments for this tractor to fulfill your every need.  I LOVE IT !!
