Craftsman Torque 3-in-1 Mower —

This Craftsman mower works well... until it dies.  From the beginning, the engine seemed to want to increase power, then decrease, constantly.  On the fourth use, it started to spit and sputter, then shut off.  I thought it was out of gas, but when I went to refill it, there was still over a third of a tank.  Trying to start it, it seems to burn off the fuel that I put in when I primed it, but then would shut off immediately.  The problem seemed to be that it was no longer getting fuel.  When I spoke with a friend, she stated that she bought the same mower since it was on sale, and had the same problems.  Had to get 4 mowers until she found one that worked.

Not the kind of quality that I look for in Craftsman products.

Another possibility could be old gas. Gas doesn't have a long life-span and can cause the mowers engine to act in the way you described. Adding fuel stabilizer to fresh gas can prolong the life of the gas and the mower. What I reccomend to people is put gas older than 30 days into your car & buy new gas for your small engine power equiptment.

If it is the same mower I bought, the governor spring fell off. I bought a replacement for about $3 and it works fine again. The spring is partially exposed, making it easy to pop off. At a minimum it should be harder to undo.
