Ha, I got lucky and got this at a garage sale for a steal because the family was moving! It was a little bunged up but not bad so I set it up in the back of the house. The first lesson I learned right away is that the Hideaway might only be as good as your hose. If you have a difficult hose or older hose that isn't very malleable, then obviously it's going to make pulling the hose out more difficult. The sweet part is how the container spins around on its base. No need to turn or move the Hideaway once you've positioned it. The plastic (or resin) is pretty durable. I think the reason mine was a little bunged up was from one of the four boys that lived there and was probably rough housed quite a bit. It still does what I need it to do though. This one replaced a copper one that was shaped like a big bowl, and while it was attractive looking, it didn't really aid us like this one does. For some reason, the hose feels lighter to use. I don't foresee any issues with the quality of the construction, but even if for some reason the swivel mechanism wore out, the Hideaway would still be useable and fairly effective.

I have had a few different hose reels over the years and the Craftsman is by far the best. It is solidly constructed and has not cracked like the others. It looks nice in my yard as well. The 225 foot hose length is great but I would love to have a 250 or 275 foot hose capacity. Nonetheless, the Craftsman Smart Track Hideaway hose reel has made my life easier. The hose glides out easily and reels back in smoothly and evenly. It is so nice to not have hoses just sitting in the yard looking unattractive. I don't miss tripping over the hoses either!! This hose reel lives up the the Craftsman name for sure.
