I've owned 2 Craftsman Professional Garden Tractors. One was a 2008 that lasted 20 minutes, the other a 2009 that lasted 90 mins. I have always liked Craftsman products so I was excited about my first purchase. It was the clearance/floor model, 27 hp Kohler, 54" deck Pro Garden Tractor. The biggest, heaviest duty one they had. It threw a pulley in under 20 mins. Probably a minor problem with a loose nut, but paying nearly 3grand for it and something happening that soon I told them to come pick it up. I had a new one (2009) out within 2-3 days. I find out that the electric deck lift on the 2008 has been discontinued for 2009(problematic). Ok by me, just seems like one more thing to break. I get going, it's doing great, then it just goes completely dead. Gauges and all. After some hunting around I find the fuse and it is blown. 5 fuses later and my mower is still half way down my front yard not going anywhere. My store manager did get someone out the next day to look at it. This time it's the electronic choke that is new for 2009 that is shorting out. This is a new part that won't be shipped to me for at least 2 weeks, then it generally takes Sears 1-2 weeks after you receive the part to send somebody back out. They're picking it back up on Monday. No more Craftsman mowers for me. No real big issues, but if between 2 mowers costing nearly $3,000 each can't mow for 2 hrs then that's it.
Bottom line- Buy something else.
