Those Dog Days of Summer
I love this mower. I first fell in love with the Craftsman 22 inch Self-Propelled Gas Lawn Mower 37044 when I was a teenager. My uncle needed his lawn mowed and didn't trust me with his huge, heavy, and super powerful mower so he bought me a used Craftsman and showed me how to mow a lawn. Growing up in the city lawns were foreign to me and I was petrified that I wouldn't be able to handle the machinery. Believe it or not I mowed an entire acre with this 22 inch mower. At first it was just about getting my lines straight without gaps in the middle. Then I discovered that I could make some really fun patterns with a smaller mower. I started doing circles and zigzags instead of the boring back and forth straight lines. This mower is just the right size for creative landscaping. My creativity with the grass earned a lot of interest from the neighbors and it started a sweet summer business. The perks: Incredibly easy to use. This is a great mower for people who are afraid of the super big bulky mowers with one hundred settings. You adjust the height with a push of a lever and you hold a bar and go! It will be great for young kids who want to mow the lawn for a perk in allowance. Lightweight! I have very poor upper body strength and I am still able to easily maneuver this mower and put it away. Reliable! Because it is a simpler mower to use there are a lot less parts and it is less likely to have a part break. When I got my used one I used it weekly for several years. The only reason I got rid of it was because I was moving into an apartment and had no use for a mower there. If anything were to break it was simple and cheap to fix. I cared for it as I cared for my first car so I'm sure it had plenty of years left in it. Small so you don't need a large area to store it. It fits well in a garage, basement or small shed. You will not need to build a storage unit for this mower so it will save you money. The drawbacks - if you have a huge lawn this is not practical. It will take you forever to mow the lawn. But that is it! I highly recommend this lawn mower to anyone. Novice, professional, DIY or other...this lawn mower will last and is well worth the cost. I recommend you purchase online new as you can get a great deal. Honestly, craftsman makes excellent machines and you can buy used for a third of the cost and still get a new mower.
