Great all around table saw for the average user

4

OK, so, I bought this tablesaw to replace a REALLY old one that my Dad had given me.....and I mean old. So, I cut my teeth on old school. 2x2 table, saw blade sticking out of the top. No gadgets, no guards, no self measuring. A blade, a fence, and the ability to tilt and raise/lower the blade. Just a preface. This is a good saw. The assembly was pretty easy, the stand is a good height, the dust collection is quite good, and the saw performance thus far has been pretty flawless. I tore all of the guards off. In my opinion, they get in the way and are going to cause me more harm than good. Love the extensions. They aren't SUPER sturdy or that big, but sturdy/big enough to just help you with larger pieces. The measurement tool on the fence is useful for CHANGES in a measurement, not absolute. Like if you already meaured the width for ripping something, and you now want to change it by 1/4" or something. It's not an absolute rip width gauge though. The fence also doesn't not always lock in perfectly parallel to the blade, so be a little careful there. This is lightweight enough to pick up and carry in and out of your garage, which is very handy. But be careful not to step on the dust collection bag when moving it....it may come off and make a bit of a mess. Blade changes are relatively easy, but I worry a little about the small screw and rubber washer that holds the plate in place that surrounds the blade. I worry about losing it, and the rubber washer wearing out. I got this on sale, and it sat in the box for about 3 years before I used it. I'm really glad I finally put it together. It's a good performer, and makes life just a little easier for me, an old school occasional user.
