Cover Girl Outlast Lipstain —

I am a member of bzz.com a web site that sends consumers products to try and also tell others about them or create a buzz about them.  About a month and a half ago I was offered the opportunity to try Cover Girl Out Last Lip Stain.  We were given a very limited choice of color.  I picked the more naturall one which is the Flirty Nude.  The Cover Girl Out Last Lip Stain comes in 12 different colors.  All of the shades are pink and pinkish purple.  I did not really see any reds.

When the lip stain came I was surprised at its appearance it actually looks more like a marker than a lip stick.  Even the lid on the tube resembles the lid of a marker except for it is see thru and most marker lids are colored the color of the marker.  The tip of the lip stain also looks like the tip of a marker.  I thought it looked odd, but put it on my lips anyways.  Since is fine like the tip of a marker it was very easy to outline my lips with, and then fill in the rest of my lips.  The ease of application was nice, but felt like I was coloring on my lips with a marker.  The lip stain has kind of a berry scent and a tiny touch of a berry flavor to it.  I picked up on that smell right away, it is fairly pleasant.

When I applied it to my lips my lips instantly seemed darker.  They changed color but it did not really have that wet lip stick look, it actually looks fairly natural just a shade darker than my lips normally are.  I found the darkness of the coloring to be odd since it is suppossed to be a nude shade, but it does not look un-natural on my lips at all.  I have tried other lip stains that kind of sunk in to the creases in my lips and looked terrible, this one does not do that, so I appreciate that.

It has a slightly different feel from normal lipstick as well. When wearing lipstick you are always kind of aware that it is there, after a while you don't really even think about it being there.  That is a good thing.  There are lip conditioners in the lip stain, but I don't feel the effects of that at all, and I don't know how good this would work on chapped lips in the winter time, but for summer wear it is quite nice.

I of course had to try out the whole staining effect and wiped my lips both on my hand, and on a kleenex and none of the color rubbed off on to either one of them, so that is a nice sign.  It also never got on my teeth or leaked off of my natural lip line.

The color did not last quite as long as I had expected it to but did stay put during eating, and for about 4 hours.  I don't think that is bad, I just expected it to last a bit longer.

Over all I am reasonably satisfied by the lip stain.  It is not a perfect product and I am not raving over it, but it does stain my lips in a reasonably natural fashion, and does not appear to wipe off, the marker applicator all though wierd actually does a nice job.  It could have last longer, and could be drying or chippy looking on chapped lips, my lips don't feel moisurized when this is on and maybe even a tad bit dry, but they look good.

The price is reasonable and average for lip stains and lip sticks.

I would give this a solid 3 1/2 stars if that were possible, I can not go as high as 4 stars though.

I don't think I would do that because everything changes as we get older. It might end up looking really wierd when you get older.

I'm definitely still interested in finding a good lip stain. If I were brave I would get permanent lip stain put on my lips. I'm too scared though.

I have used ones that get patchy or leave a weird ring around my lips. This brand didn't do that. It was just realllly dark and it didn't last a long time on me. I use Tarte's Rise and Shine stain and gloss and that lasts all day.

I used a very natural shade, so that is probably why I didn't experience that stained bloody look, but I have had that same experience with another brand of lip stain I tried.

I went with the really natural shade, that is probably why it didn't look bloody. This did not really get patchy on me. I have tried other lip stains that did though. My lips were not chapped at all when I used this either so that probably helped. In the winter when they get dry I could see this being a problem. Thanks for commenting.

I didn't like this either. I was so happy to buy it (and was stupid and bought 2) but I hated them and ended up trashing them. I agree with Patty, it look like my lips were stained with blood. I found it to be very dry for my lips as well. Oh well, maybe they'll come out with a better one for me.

I didn't like this. I guess I expected more. My big issue was the shades were very dark., I got a berry shade and it looked blood red/purple on me. This looks better with clear gloss over it. It's really matte. At least it doesn't fade in weird patches.
