Flying in or out of Dallas-Fort Worth Airport? If you are, chances are pretty good that you might be looking for a nearby hotel for a night or two, and there sure are a whole lot of options out there when it comes to DFW area hotels. I can't vouch for 99% of them, but I can tell you that the Courtyard by Marriott on the South side of the airport (there's another location on the north) is a pretty sweet little place. It's comfortable, quite modern, well equipped, and the folks there were nice enough to let me leave my car in their parking lot for a few days while I jetted out of town. Airport hotels that give guests some extended parking privileges totally rock, and I sure do appreciate it!The Courtyard is a nice looking place. Love the large, open atrium area with polished marble floors and conservative decor accented by deep, warm, reddish woods. They have a small bar area there, and a small restaurant serving breakfast in the morning. The breakfast wasn't free, but it wasn't terribly expensive either, and I'd sure rather pay $7 for a made-to-order fresh omellette than I would be stuck with a stale donut and weak coffee at that "free breakfast" the other guy has.
In the hotel's courtyard, they have a gazebo, a very nice swimming pool, and a whirlpool spa. The landscaping is attractive, and the deck is inviting with plenty of lounge chairs ready and waiting for lounging. Didn't see an exercise room, but I did see a laundry. And of course, the hotel provides a free shuttle service to and from the DFW airport. The shuttle runs twice an hour.
For an airport hotel, the room is impressively quiet. It's also clean and comfortable, with sleek, clean lines of Scandinavian style furniture. The hotel isn't very old, so nothing is really worn down (not yet anyway). They do free internet connections here --- there's a $10 deposit for the connectors, if you don't have your own --- but the access is mercifully free. Loved the big thick towels. Loved the oversize soap bars (sure beats the dinky little chips they give you at some places, don't it?)
Overall, The Courtyard at DFW South is a comfortable place to relax and unwind. The service is friendly, the amenities are good, and the courtesy of providing off-site airport is a much appreciated perk that will get my repeat business for sure.
