Most HelpfulMy husband and I bought a home 3 years ago and since Countrywide had the lowest interest rate that we could find on a 15 year home loan, we went with them. A great FICO score can get you the best rate from any company you choose to borrow from. Everything went great.......no problems......we pay our...

Most HelpfulI live in Florida and I had Countrywide as a mortgage company. A few years ago, we had the eyes of two hurricane go right over my house within a two week period. I thought that that was frightening, but my nightmare was only starting.
Because of the damage to my house, I contacted Countrywide to...
review »I've had an ARM with Countrywide for three years - I was going to refinance but have since found out the value of my property is less than the balance on my loan. Now I have to wait until the market perks up again. In the meantime, I've had a heart attack and understanbably couldn't work for awhile. I called Countrywide to see if they would defer some payments until I was back on my feet. I was told NO! They sent me to the 'Workout' department where I submitted a hardship letter in February 08. I was told to check back in 30 days. Almost every week since then I've been told either...
review »People beware. Countrywide has been under investigation for over three years.
Even though they are now owned by Bank of America things have not improved
or changed. Even though they have been sued by 10-15 States they are playing
the same tricks. Yes, they are trying to stay away from Sub-prime exotic mortgages
but whether you are a new applicant or a current mortgage holder with them they
still have horrific accounting policies and inaccuracies that cause migraines.
They will ask you to fax them-they lose all your documents. Customer Service is
absolutely obnoxious and practically non existant.
Their...
review »It took countrywide over 5 months to enter details of my workout plan from the time FedEx had delivered it till the time it was entered into the computer. This entire time I was charged late fees and interest. Everytime I called to inquire about it they said 2 weeks, then it was it takes 30 days, then the next lady stated that it takes 90. Well I tell you what, I don't think there is only 90 days in 5 months. She also claimed I would be credited from the time that they got it till entering it. That is alot of interest and late fees. Especially on an
ARM @ 12.75%. I don't think...
review »I refinanced my home one year ago through Countrywide Home Lending. The experience was almost painless! I shopped around and they had the best customer service and gave me a very good rate.
I was contacted by one of their representatives on the phone and I wanted reassurance that he was who he said and he was able to verify through e-mail that he was, in fact, who he said he was.
Everything was handled by phone, e-mail and Fed Ex. I am in a fairly remote area where Countrywide isn't located so they arranged for everything from the appraisal to the final signing of papers. They even arranged...
review »Recently we were pre-approved for an FHA loan and were working directly with Deanna L. Phillips. At the beginning we were thrilled to start this process, as we were first time home buyers. Not only did she lack the professional experience in day to day communication but she was not knowledgeable in the loans she was dealing with. Numerous phone calls and emails went unanswered for days, and it is our belief that her own incompetency caused us to lose our dream home.
For us this turned out to be one of the worse experiences we have ever had to deal with. We cancelled our loan with Bank of America...
review »Since I have been with this company, they have been very aggressive and bothersome on payments made and if you get behind, very hard to work with in catching up.
If you want info from them, be rady to wait a week to get a call back. If you owe them and are behind, expect to get 12 calls a day.
