Countrywide Home Loan Company Review Summary

Some people thing mortgage loan companies are basically the same, but those who have used Country Wide Home Loans feel differently. Country Wide is noted by its supporters for its large number of locations and the ease of the loan process and they feel Country Wide Home Loans is “Awesome to Work With”. But other reviewers are not that happy with Country Wide Home Loans, with comments like “Countrywide is Worse than a Category 5 Hurricane” common among them. The cons seem to outweigh the pros with Country Wide Home Loans, making it a less then desirable Mortgage Lender

My husband and I bought a home 3 years ago and since Countrywide had the lowest interest rate that we could find on a 15 year home loan, we went with them. A great FICO score can get you the best rate from any company you choose to borrow from. Everything went great.......no problems......we pay our...

I live in Florida and I had Countrywide as a mortgage company.  A few years ago, we had the eyes of two hurricane go right over my house within a two week period.  I thought that that was frightening, but my nightmare was only starting.

Because of the damage to my house, I contacted Countrywide to...

I've had an ARM with Countrywide for three years - I was going to refinance but have since found out the value of my property is less than the balance on my loan.  Now I have to wait until the market perks up again.  In the meantime, I've had a heart attack and understanbably couldn't work for awhile.  I called Countrywide to see if they would defer some payments until I was back on my feet.  I was told NO!  They sent me to the 'Workout' department where I submitted a hardship letter in February 08.  I was told to check back in 30 days.  Almost every week since then I've been told either...

People beware. Countrywide has been under investigation for over three years.
Even though they are now owned by Bank of America things have not improved
or changed. Even though they have been sued by 10-15 States they are playing
the same tricks. Yes, they are trying to stay away from Sub-prime exotic mortgages
but whether you are a new applicant or a current mortgage holder with them they
still have horrific accounting policies and inaccuracies that cause migraines.
They will ask you to fax them-they lose all your documents. Customer Service is
absolutely obnoxious and practically non existant.

Their...

The outrageous deceptive loan practices of COUNTRYWIDE, resulting in more foreclosures than any other organization, while their founder cashed out in the MILLIONS is totally criminal & I hope the present CA ATTORNEY GENERAL'S INVESTIGATION lands HIM & HIS HENCHMEN IN JAIL.

It took countrywide over 5 months to enter details of my workout plan from the time FedEx had delivered it till the time it was entered into the computer.  This entire time I was charged late fees and interest.  Everytime I called to inquire about it they said 2 weeks, then it was it takes 30 days,  then the next lady stated that it takes 90.  Well I tell you what,  I don't think there is only 90 days in 5 months.  She also claimed I would be credited from the time that they got it till entering it.  That is alot of interest and late fees.  Especially on an

ARM @ 12.75%.  I don't think...

I refinanced my home one year ago through Countrywide Home Lending.  The experience was almost painless!  I shopped around and they had the best customer service and gave me a very good rate.

I was contacted by one of their representatives on the phone and I wanted reassurance that he was who he said and he was able to verify through e-mail that he was, in fact, who he said he was.

Everything was handled by phone, e-mail and Fed Ex.  I am in a fairly remote area where Countrywide isn't located so they arranged for everything from the appraisal to the final signing of papers.  They even arranged...

Recently we were pre-approved for an FHA loan and were working directly with Deanna L. Phillips. At the beginning we were thrilled to start this process, as we were first time home buyers. Not only did she lack the professional experience in day to day communication but she was not knowledgeable in the loans she was dealing with. Numerous phone calls and emails went unanswered for days, and it is our belief that her own incompetency caused us to lose our dream home.

For us this turned out to be one of the worse experiences we have ever had to deal with. We cancelled our loan with Bank of America...

As a current owner of a Countrywide mortgage, I was very disappointed when we had to enter into negotions to lower our rates three consecutive times.  We were plagued by incorrect and inconsistent information being sent on forms that we were expected to sign, being told several times that everything was all set, only to be turned down because our income wasn't enough.  Keep in mind that I am already paying on a Countrywide mortgage which was current!

i don't know where countrywide got my number, but they are to the harrassing point of wanting to refinance my home. I have told them repeatedly i am not paying them $4000 to refinance more money for longer time to get the same payment. They always "Understand where yu are coming from, but if you will just trusty us" Trust them? Who are they kidding. Aren't they the ones that Bank of America just bailed out of hot water! No Thanks!

This company has horrible customer service. They are too large of a comapny and therefor do not care about the little people. They cost us huge amounts of money we did not have due to an unsecure payment system, and will not admit fault. Now I hate that I have to write checks to them. I hope Bank of America does buy thme out.

Countrywide was very helpfull when I was looking from a home loan and i hav been pleased with the loan itself but have not gotten cooperation from the representatives I have spoken with over the last couple of years as I think of selling and reinvesting. They do not follow through after promising to send paperwork, ect.

Since I have been with this company, they have been very aggressive and bothersome on payments made and if you get behind, very hard to work with in catching up.

If you want info from them, be rady to wait a week to get a call back. If you owe them and are behind, expect to get 12 calls a day.

Country wide mortage loans are not as resourceful as they say they are.  They tell consumers that they can garantee a loan but actually they do not.
