I was always taught that journalism should be "centered"; neither left or right. Just report the facts and let the public make up their own mind. What Rush Limbaugh is to Right Winged ultra-conservative talk radio - this man is to ultra-liberal Left Winged TV.
I actually heard this man compare John McCain to Fascist Adolf Hitler! Isn't that pushing things way too far Keith? Report on the man's political views & positions. Then let the people decide. A political commentary is one thing; lies and untruths will come back and bite you in the A**! Remember - at one time Rush even had a show on TV. That didn't last.
For those thinking right now, "This guy (me) has to be a republican." - WRONG! I'm neither. I never have voted a straight ticket in my life and probably never will. I learned a long time ago, with a bit of humor, from my Dad about politics. I asked my Dad if he was a Democrat or Republican. He said - "Neither, I vote for whoever I think will do the best job." Then I asked him who was his favorite president. He said it was a tie between Truman & Eisenhower. This shocked me...one was a Democrat, the other a Republican; and back to back in office to boot. Dad stated, "When Truman was in office, and something needed to be done, he did it. By the time Eisenhower took over, everything was running smoothly and not too much needed to be done. So, that's what he did...not too much." I rolled on the floor laughing. Of course, Dad was joking too, knowing that it was Eisenhower who initiated our system of Interstate Highways we now enjoy today.
Grow up Mr. Olbermann. Don't blame every mistake of George W. Bush on John McCain. Just because both are Republicans doesn't mean they are 100% identical in their thinking. George W. Bush will most likely go down in history as one of the biggest "do nothing" presidents this country has ever seen. John McCain was a naval aviator, a P.O.W. and a hero in my eyes. And, by the way Mr. Olbermann, in case you didn't notice - America - even California, still believes in family values. San Francisco voted down a bill that would allow legalizing prostitution. California, as a state, voted down gay marriage.
I didn't vote for Mr. Obama. But, there's one difference between myself and Keith Olbermann. I still respect the man in office - whoever he might be. I may not agree with him, (the president) I may not like him - but I still respect him.
