You can do more kinds of adrenaline rushing backcountry adventure treks in Costa Rica than in just about any other country you can name, and the country is small enough that nothing is further than a few hours away.
There's spectacular volcanoes and rugged mountain peaks just begging for some climbing, or backcountry hiking. Some of these mountains give birth to wild raging streams that beg for a kayak or whitewater rafting adventure.

The surfing in Costa Rica is awesome. The waves break very good and are ride-able about every day. The rain-forests are extremely scenic and fun to visit. They are not expensive to enter and are experiences of a lifetime. The food is very reasonably priced and delicious. The coconuts are awesome. The wildlife is incredible and makes for amazing pictures.
