I don't believe in declawing cats. I've learned over the past couple of years that you just have to figure out what type of scratching surface your cat likes and then provide it for them--the destruction of couches, rugs, etc. will stop immediately. Because we always have new cats and kittens here, we keep all kinds of scratchers here. We have cloth posts, twine posts, cardboard ramps, cardboard mats, jute mats, and even carpet remnants scattered throughout the house for the cats to use. This is a great product! All three of my cats love it. — — The incline is favored to any flat model of cardboard scratcher by my kitties. The area is large enough for my monster 20 lb. cat to stretch out and really scratch. And he loves his cardboard! I got this scratcher on a whim; my cats don't usually use scratching posts that I buy them. I was really surprised, because as soon as I set it up (took the lid off and put the catnip in), my cats were on it. I think it's something about it being angled, because I've still had other scratching boards (laying flat) and they still won't touch it. I have one cat and she is picky about everything, but one thing we would never be without is her favorite Cosmic Catnip Alpine Scratcher. I have had the same one for years and keep buying the refills. My cats LOVE to scratch (like most cats). I originally bought them one of the square cardboard scratchers and they wore it out. So when I saw this one, I knew they'd love it. All my cats love this item. I did have to enlarge the hole for the toy a bit for my 15 pound cat. It keeps them from scratching the firniture which is a big plus for me. I like that you can turn the cardboard piece over and buy new ones, though frankly this is so inexpensive you can just buy a new one. I also like that it is made of cardboard not plastic.
