I don't believe in declawing cats. I've learned over the past couple of years that you just have to figure out what type of scratching surface your cat likes and then provide it for them--the destruction of couches, rugs, etc. will stop immediately. Because we always have new cats and kittens here, we keep all kinds of scratchers here. We have cloth posts, twine posts, cardboard ramps, cardboard mats, jute mats, and even carpet remnants scattered throughout the house for the cats to use. not every cat enjoys getting its nails trimmed but they need to scratch.
with these positioned around the house, I dont jump out of bed in the night any more running to yell at the little heathens for scratching the rugs or chairs. they are now always just chilling with these scratchers thanks to the cosmic catnip.
the height and slant of this product seems to attract them more than anything lying flat. also more than one cat can scratch at once.

The incline is favored to any flat model of cardboard scratcher by my kitties. The area is large enough for my monster 20 lb. cat to stretch out and really scratch. And he loves his cardboard! The catnip and cardboard bits do get thrown everywhere, so there is a lot of vacuuming involved with this product, but it is well worth it because it keeps the cats from scratching my furniture.

I have one cat and she is picky about everything, but one thing we would never be without is her favorite Cosmic Catnip Alpine Scratcher. I have had the same one for years and keep buying the refills. I have moved it at least three times when I made major moves to CA and WA.
