Cosco Scenera —

When my twin girls outgrew their infant seats at 15 months I was BUMMED.  I was hoping to rear-face them for much longer before investing in a forward-facing Britax Frontier (which can be used be used until 80 pounds with the harness, then 100 pounds as a booster).  I bought the Cosco Scerena because I couldn't justify spending the money on a Britax convertable seat , then on a forward-facing seat/booster combo, and a carseat expert told me the frame was very similar to a Britax convertable, just with a less cushie seat.  They have tons of room to grow in the Cosco Scerena, and I should be able to keep them rear-facing for quite a while longer.

Just to add, my girls are in the 50th percentile in height and weight, so I am not sure if theis would work for someone with bigger kids, and I DEFINATELY would not want to put an infant in this seat, even then it says you can, it's just too big.

Also, to get a proper fit in my minivan it took a friend and I over an hour, and we had to use a rolled-up blanket under each seat to get it to fit properly.  DEFINATELY HAVE CHP OR AN EXPERT CHECK YOU HAVE IT IN CORRECTLY IF YOU HAVE A HONDA ODDESSY.

I have a Grand Am and it also took me a long long time even after my husband had already given up on the installation ( Rear Facing ) . I finally had to put two pieces of 2 x 4 pieces of wood about 16 inches long stacked on top of each other, with a baby blanket wrapped around both pieces, under the baby seat at the back of the seat in the car. Talk about lovely. Then I had to just about pull my guts out trying to get the seat belt tight enough so the boards and baby seat would not move. Finally got it right.
Also everytime we use it, trying to tighten our childs belts is sort of a pain because you have to readjust every point of the belt almost every time. I don't know if other seats are this irratating.
And, it also says on the side of the seat that the child has to be over 12 months old and at least 22 pounds AND at least 34 inches to face forward. My daughter is already 14 1/2 months old barely 22 pounds and ONLY 29 inches. How old will she be before she can face forward? Three?
