Cheap and Does the Job Just Fine

4

This high chair is cheap, functional, and not fashionable, but it does the job just fine. We used it with our daughter from about 8 months on to about a year and a half. we switched to a booster seat that straps to a dining room chair because we wanted her to be more a part of the dinner table. We lost the straps to this high chair somewhere along the way, but it didn't matter, our daughter was secure in it when the tray was snapped in place. Getting the tray on and off is a little cumbersome as you have to line up the notches before it will snap in, The legs do not fold back, they are fixed, so if you need to move this out of the way between meals it will not really work for you. The front legs stick out pretty far, so the high chair does not scoot up to the dinner table very well. It takes up a lot of room. I liked how easy it was to clean this high chair. Unless you need a feature like folding legs there is no reason need to buy an expensive high chair.

You get what you pay for with Cosco high chair

I work at a daycare and we recently purchased a Cosco simple start high chair. And we have been quite disappointed. Previous to this high chair we owned a few First Years high chairs nearly similar in design. But they were more functional overall. First, the new Cosco high chair lacks an extra tray lip in the front of the tray. This is useful for resting the container of food or bowl that you are serving baby from, without baby being able to reach it. The Cosco tray is without an extra place to put food. This high chair also lacks a front adjustment on the tray. This is useful for opening and closing the tray one handed (so needed when carrying baby with one arm and trying to open the tray up with the other arm!). And the obvious drawbacks- it is large and does not fold up at all. So what are the pros of the Cosco high chair? The plastic seat cover- very easy to clean. Cloth seat covers fall apart when washed too much- this will never happen with this cover. Also, the adjustable back is nice. You get what you pay for!

Not Great

2

We have this as a secondary chair to use at my parents house.  We received it as a gift, and weren't able to look at or research it before gettting it.  I'm not very impressed.  The chair does not fold up.  It takes up a lot of space.  The tray is hard to get on and off, and requires both hands.  The plastic cushion is cheap.  The safety belt is harder to use that it should be.  Every time we use this, I trip on the front legs because they stick out farther than the back.  I didn't put it together so I can't comment on that.  Since we received it as a gift, I also can't comment on the price, but I imagine it would be pretty cheap (or should be!).  If your child can sit up well, and doesn't need the reclining back, I would recommend just getting a restaurant style wooden high chair instead of this one.  I would definately not recommend as a primary chair and I would look around at other chairs before purchasing as a secondary.

Cheap, great quality, takes up a lot of space

I bought this high chair for use in my parents' house, and it is now on its second grandchild. It is cheap, which is why I bought it for a second chair, and it is quite durable. It is easy to clean, as it just wipes, and it is not flashy and bad looking. It is kind of boring for a high chair, as it doesn't come with all the bells and whistles that are normally associated with children's toys. It works great as a second high chair, and would probably work great as a first one too. The tray is easy to get on and off, although it is difficult to work one-handed. The thing that I dislike most about it is that it is very bulky. It doesn't fold up, and this makes it nearly impossible to store. The height is not adjustable, and it is very very hard to take off the pad. While you can't store it in set-up position, it can be taken apart. It is not very hard to take apart or to put together, but it is a hassle to have to do it whenever you want to put it away.

Perfect for Grandma's house!

I needed a less expensive (hate to say cheap when it comes to baby stuff, right?) high chair to keep at Grandma's for when she babysits.  This one seemed to fit the bill although the picture scared me a little (somehow it didn't look topple-proof). We have one of those fancy wooden ones at home and I couldn't bring myself to spend that again for another high chair. I was really pleasantly surprised at the quality of this high chair.  It is simple but much sturdier than it looks (so don't worry if you're buying it online) and it is easy to clean. The seat pad wipes right up. As far as holding up to day in and day out use I can't really say as this isn't used everyday, but for a secondary high chair it is perfect.  The only downside (according to Grandma) is that it doesn't fold up for storage-her kitchen is small-but that is a minor consideration. If you're looking for a well-priced, solid high-chair this may be it!

Cosco High Chair is a good 1st time chair but hard to clean.

2

This was a first time chair for me. It worked great but there were a few issues I had with it. It broke apart very easily, which was nice. It just has 4 screws that come apart. The try was easy to take off and there is a safety try under it that keeps your kid in there while you juggle other things. The tray is easy enough to clean off which is nice. It has a handle in the back that makes a great place to hang bibs, keeping them right there and handy. It is a good size for about 4 months up.It was a perfect height for our table.I did not like how the food would slip under the lining and sit there until you took the lining and everything off. It doesn't have wheels which means you have to drag it if you want to move it. The legs have a fairly wide span on them. The lining eventually started tearing and I had to super glue it back together, which took time and didn't last as long as I wanted it too.

Cheap and reliable

Bought this to replace an old hand me down highchair that was given to me. I liked it for awhile..but the chair pad started cracking and becoming very gross. I know it was put though alot but I had to throw it out. I was able to get a new one for cheap from the manufacturer. This high chair itself has not broken or cracked or anything. As I stated before, it's been through a lot and then some and it's still standing.  I like that I can have the option to just put it outside and spray it with a hose because lets face it, it sounds so much easier than wiping down the entire chair. Assembly is extremely easy, but you can't go fold it up and put it in a corner.  The legs stick out and take up quite a bit of space. This item was really inexpensive and it did the job I needed it to do. It's still standing and I quite frankly can't wait to disassemble it. I'm just waiting for my kid not to ever want to sit in it ever again, then it's garage sale time.

A great basic high chair

3

This is a great basic high chair. I used it for my first child and many visiting children. It stood up the toughest messes. The pad comes off for easy cleaning, just wipe it down. The whole chair cleans easily with a little soap and water. The tray is big enough for playing on, so it doubled as a play table for us while dinner was being made. There is a little cup indent in the try which my daughter loved. With a little cleaning all stains came out of the tray as well. The tray did scratch easily so it didn't look new after a few uses, but it didn't seem to effect the function or cleaning of it. The back adjusts without too much effort, but when leaning back I didn't like the chair as much. The baby seemed far from the tray and even with the strap I felt like she would slip. I would recommend it for an older baby who cat sit with assistance. My mother also has one. She didn't like the pad, so she bought some fabric and covered it. It was easy. I would recommend this as a good basic high chair for the budget conscience person.

Cosco high chair cheap but okay

3

I purchased this high chair as soon as my little one was ready to start tackling something more substantial then milk. I was very inexpensive compared to other models that had more bells and whistles. I really just wanted a basic high chair and that is what I got. It was easy to clean which is great but I had some issues with the safety issues of the chair. I could never seem to get the buckle to adjust properly so I just wound up tying the strap in a knot to shorten it. The buckle also was not very user friendly. It was very difficult to get it engaged and then to get it open once you had gotten it to latch. It was not something you could do one handed, which is often necessary when you are trying to juggle a small child and meal time. It adjusted heights easily and the tray was easy to get off and on. I think however that if I ever need to purchase another high chair I will spend just a little more money on a chair that would be just a little easier to use.

Thank you Cosco!

I can't believe there were any bad reviews about this high chair. I bought this with my first child, over 5 years ago, and I still have it today. It's went through my 3 kids and I'm hanging onto it for the next one.. whenever that might be! Obviously this high chair is durable because my kids don't really take it easy on things. It's a breeze to clean. The entire thing is plastic, including the seat cover, so I just threw the cover in the sink when I did my dishes and let it air dry. It was very easy to assemble compared to other baby products I've assembled in the past. You usually need a team of dedicated helpers to get anything baby-related put together but I did this one all on my own! The seat is is adjustable to recline to 3 different positions. The tray slides right on and off and it is adjustable as well.. I think to 3 or 4 different positions. Super handy for me since my babies were lil' chubsters. My kids never got hurt on this or pinched fingers anywhere. I like the simplicity of it. I'm not interested in high chairs with cloth seat covers. I don't know a baby who would complain about something like that and the plastic is SO much easier to clean than cloth. Doesn't come with all those crazy toys all over the tray.. which I never really saw the point in. Eat time isn't play time. And if you've got your baby in the high chair to keep them outta your way for a bit [while you're mopping or something], then just throw a few toys up there with them. I love this high chair. Everything about is works with my life and my kids.
