Cosco Alpha Omega Elite —

Once your little baby starts to outgrow their infant carrier you start to look for other options. I know with both my boys that infant carrier only lasted a few months. They were too long and the infant carrier got too heavy to hold. I started looking at options for a rear facing car seat that would also be good to turn around to forward facing once he got to the appropriate size and age requirement to do so. When looking for one, I was thinking of how cost effective it is and how many car seats or booster seats I would be willing to buy. I found this Cosco Alpha Omega Elite for a great price and when you factor in how many car seats it would take to do what this one did and the cost to equal how long I would have this one, well it was well worth the price, actually cheaper then purchasing all those car seats.

The Cosco Alpha Omega Elite is a rear facing car seat starting for small infants (around newborn). Unlike most of the car seats I was looking at, at that point in time, this car seat has a wonderful infant head support. The support is to help keep the newborns heads from dropping over, it also serves as a nice gaurd to keep their heads from bumping from side to side. Once the little one is able to hold their own head up it is easily removed.

The Cosco Alpha Omega Elite also has a nice, easy to adjust five point harness seat belt. Which means it buckles across the chest and has two buckles at the crotch area. The adjustment is easy and is really a one handed adjustment with a push of a button and a pull of a strap you can adjust it to fit your little one just right. If any of have adjusted a car seat before you will really appreciate this feature.

I was able to put my 5 month old in the rear facing position, in a small 4 door sedan and still have room for his legs to move around back there. The only trouble with a small 4 door sedan and this car seat is seating space, this car seat didn't leave much comfy room for other passengers in the back seat. it a little bulky for some.

From the 4 door sedan the Cosco Alpha Omega Elite was moved to a mini-van. It was securely placed in with safety hooks to secure it to the van itself and not just the seat with a seat belt. This is a nice safety feature to keep in mind when looking at car seats with newer vehicles. In the mini-van there was enough room for him and I didn't feel like it was going to tip over the seat, which I have seen in some rear facing car seats. It has a nice easy adjustment to recline the car seat so the infant is content as well as comfortable. It also has a base to adjust it so it is at a safe level to have it rear-facing.

Once your little one has out grown the rear facing and is old enough to to go forward facing it is an easy transition to do with this car seat. The Cosco Alpha Omega Elite has many different ways to strap the car seat down with a seat belt. And once it is forward facing you can use that easy adjustment for reclining and the base to make sure it is level. The five point harness is adjustable to make it easily used for a long time, even past the recommended age and size of when to use a five point harness. In recent events I have realized it give me peace of mind to keep them in that five-point harness longer then recommended.

At some point in your toddlers growth the reclining feature is no longer needed. When that day comes you can take the base off easily and place it level with the seat. It also has a detachable cup holder that you can put on the car seat for the toddler to put his drinks. This cup holder only goes on one side though, but it is pretty sturdy. I know both of my children have used it as leverage to help them get into the van and it is still attached and not broken.

Once your toddler has outgrown the five-point harness, at the recommended requiresment by state, you can then use the Alpha Omega Elite as a nice booster. A Booster is for older children to use until the meet the minimum requirement by state. The five-point harness is easily removed from the car seat with no hassles. You can then take that seat belt and position it across the chest. The Alpha Omega Elite even has a seat belt strap holder on both sides of the car seat to make sure the seat belt strap is in the right position and stays there. This holder actually has different levels on it to make sure you can get the right adjustment for your child.

If your children are anything like my children then your car seats will get dirty. The Alpha Omega Elite is easy to take off the fabric and wash if needed. I have taken the fabric off so many times I have literally lost count. The fabric is durable too, because it still looks in good condition even after two boys and a ton of laundry washes.

As you can see the Cosco Alpha Omega Elite can grow with your little one every step of the way till he or she no longer needs a car seat. It is almost like having four car seats or more in one simple car seat. I always recommend this car seat to anyone who is looking for one. Because there are more pros then cons when it comes to this car seat.
