Wonderful slow cooker

By

from Rural Retreat, VA

Comments about Corningware 6-Quart Slow Cooker:

I have had several slow cookers over the years but never really liked them because they seemed to either burn the food and not cook it. I was also not comfortable leaving them on when I was working because we live in an old house and I was afraid they would short out and burn my house down. However, after I started working from home I received this slower cooker as a gift. I was hesitant at first but now I wouldn't trade it for anything. I went online and found all kinds of recipes for everything. I have made meats, side dishes and even dessert. The smell from the dishes cooking just fill the house and when my husband comes home he can't wait to eat. It has also been good since he comes in at all hours because I can just leave it on low and it is still hot when he comes in to eat. The removable crock is great because I can just put the entire thing in the refrigerator and then warm it up the next day. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.

BEST on the market!

By

Comments about Corningware 6-Quart Slow Cooker:

I have actually given away crockpots rather than use them any longer, as I have been so frustrated with most crockpots just boiling the food rather than slow cooking.  I used this particular Corningware six quart crockpot at my sister's home and instantly fell in love with the thing!  I ordered it for myself through a home shopping network and wouldn't trade it for the world.  The carry case is a real blessing too!  I do spray the pot with PAM before I cook anything and that provides for the easiest cleanup ever.  No need to buy those expensive crockpot liners!  I have had this crockpot for three years and would instantly buy another Corningware crockpot if anything happened to this one.  Corning just knows how to make a good product and I haven't had one unsuccessful meal cooked in this crockpot.  Heartily recommended!

This slow cooker is really good!

Comments about Corningware 6-Quart Slow Cooker:

I got this slow cooker as a wedding gift 3 years ago & I love it! It's super easy to clean as the "pot" itself lifts right out. It came with an insulated carry-case & other accessories that I have found quite useful. I also like that you can put the "pot" in the oven too! With our large family having the 6qt is essential! However, I am in the market for a smaller one to make certain dishes that don't quite fill up our cooker. The only thing I'm not crazy about with this particular model is the time/temp controller, it can be a little tricky, but it's not a deal-breaker.

a godsend for busy people

By

Comments about Corningware 6-Quart Slow Cooker:

If you're a busy parent or even a busy individual, you need to discover slow-cooking.  I discovered it as a college student-- you just put your materials in and leave, and then you'll come home to a piping hot, tasty meal!  t's also very easy to find slow cooker recipes online or cookbooks for them, specifically, so you'll get your use out of it.

I have it in this 6 quart size and the "medium size."  That one was great for when I lived alone, but for a family to cook meat in, you need the bigger size, which is plenty big enough for about 4 pounds of beef roast, I'd say.  It's fairly easy to clean (but you will have to let it soak if your juices / sauces get cooked onto the sides).  The only real drawback I can see is that the cooking pot is rather heavy when you go to wash it (minor issue, though).

Now they have fancy programmable ones which seems a nice addition.  It's not necessary, but it would help you with timing of your meals.
