I'm constantly replacing broken, chipped and cracked dinnerware! it's annoying and sometimes can even cause injuries!
I've resorted to plastic plates for a while, then tried a second had store. Once in a while I find some really nice things there and went hoping to find some nice replacement dishes, for I was not about to spend another dime on a new set just to have them chipping and breaking all over the place, not for a while.
Little did I know that I would find the dishes, that would make me a fan of Corelle for life.
A large stack of thin white plates with blue hearts in the center set on a shelf along with other used dishes, beckoned me to take a closer look.
What are these? they are so thin, yet felt strong and sturdy in my hand. I wondered were they porcelain? or ceramic? ther'e to light to be stoneware, and certainly were not plastic.
While still lost in my contemplations, two sweet looking little ladies approached me, "You should buy those plates, they will be around a long time.
I noticed that they had a couple of these plates also and there confident demeanor convinced me to purchase them.
They were right, eight years later I still have these second hand plates! and just think.. someone had them years before I had.
Proof that Corelle dinnerware could stand the test of time, I confidently purchased a new 16 piece beige colored set adorned with autumn fruit, called Abundance from Kmart.
Corelle dinnerware is known for it's legendary strength and durability. Here's my own proof and experience:
A). Dropped a plate on the floor and I still expected it to break because of the distance I dropped it from, instead it landed on the rim, rolled into the dinning room, and like a large quarter it spin around into a circle and fell flat.
Never seen a plate pull a stunt like that one! and there was Not one chip found anywhere on it! Amazing!
B). My Kid brother left a plate of left overs in the stove, took a phone call, forgot the stove was still on! You can guess what happen to the left over's, but..the plate was fine!
However.. Allow baked on foods to soak a little and use Non-abrasive scrubbers and cleaners.. they won't break but they will scratch.
C). Do following the care instruction, these plates are made of glass, thus, you cannot subject them to sudden temperature changes.
Had I placed that Hot! plate directly into dishwater it may have cracked or shattered! This will happened with any glassware! if placed on or into something cold and then hot or vise versa at once!
Corelle's technology binds three layers of glass which makes them durable, strong, light weight, dishwasher, oven safe, chip and break resistant.
A wonderful investment that will save you time, space, and money, and those heavy dishes that look so pretty... you can leave them, until you need them.
Sold at most department stores and online.
