The fastest paced Core Rhythms DVD of all. Great fun!

5 star rating

a daily exerciser, an at home exerciser, the owner of 100's of at home workouts, in need of variety in workouts, very concerned with staying fit, not a good dancer
Pros

bonus learn to dance workout, taught by real Latin dancers, fun, fat burning, works the core constantly, combines all CR dance styles on one DVD, fast paced, high energy, view from front or back, help feature always there for you

Cons
faster paced than other CR workouts, may take a few tried to get it all, some slightly high impact moves, not for the beginner

Quick View: After buying the Core Rhythms Four Workout Starter Set, I branched out and bought the "Club Mix" which includes four all new and different Core Rhythm workouts. I find that Core Rhythms Latin Synergy is the fastest paced, most energetic workout of all the Core Rhythm workouts and I really like it. You should start out with a slower one - the Kick Start DVD would be best - unless you're in good shape and ready to kick it into high gear and stay there for almost 45 minutes.

About Core Rhythms Latin Synergy

This workout features Latin dancers Julia Powers and Jaana Kunitz as all the workouts do. Jaana has a kicky new short hairdo but still has that odd red hair that no one could possibly be born with. The set is the same as always - a simple wood floored area with a large screen behind the dancers and two others doing the workout. On the screen is the super toned torso of a faceless woman who does the workout along with the "real people". You can easily see every muscle that should be moving and every swing up close. The best way to deal with that unbearably perfect torso is to pretend you're looking at yourself in a mirror as you workout. It works for me! As with all the workouts, you have a choice of viewing from the front or the back of the instructors. I always view from the front. There is a help feature that you can use any time a move confuses you. The workout will stop and you will be shown, slowly, how to do the move. Then you can continue on. I never use the help feature but it's nice to know it's there.

This 45 minute workout incorporates eight dance styles including the Merengue, Cha Cha, Salsa, Samba, Paso Doble, Swing, and Rumba. It starts out with a quick warm up and then you're off and dancing and you don't stop until you slow down with the Rumba. I have all the Core Rhythms DVDs and Core Rhythms Latin Synergy is the highest energy workout of them all. The moves are fast, the pace is fast, and you may need to watch the DVD a couple of times to get all the moves down.

I love this workout. I like to push myself and I like variety. Because I learned just about all the steps from the other workouts, I didn't have much trouble keeping up with the fast changes in dance steps. The music is fitting but not overly exciting. The instructors, as always are very knowledgeable and show that they are pros at all the dances. They don't expect you to be though. They go over each step slowly until you are comfortable with it, then do it faster, then finally they go into full swing, really picking up the pace.

I burn a load of calories when I do this workout and I have fun. I love the variety of moves and the fast pace. Trust me, when you do Core Rhythms Latin Synergy, you don't have to wonder if your heart rate is in the fat burning zone. It will be!

Also on this DVD is a Latin Dance Made Easy with Julia Powers and her husband teaching actual dances. I watched it and it's too hard for me to even try and my husband is so NOT a Latin dancer type. Still, it's an extra if you're truly interested in learning how to do Latin dances on the dance floor with a partner.

My Viewpoint

Core Rhythms Latin Synergy is one of the best Core Rhythms DVDs made, in my opinion. Although some people don't like that you always end up at "home base" marching for a few steps before moving on, I totally appreciate the little break and don't find this workout to be repetitive or boring in the least. It's fun, challenging, and  a real fat blaster. A definite hit in the series. 5 stars.

Nah, it's really fun. You should try it. I'll let you borrow it. It's good for the soul to dance. Obviously I can't dance anywhere but in the house since I am a klutz so my inner Latina comes out with this video.

LOL. Thanks. This review is all phantoms but I couldn't be happier. With all the reviews making the rounds, it's great to see some people stopping by and even greater that you took the time to say hello. :)

Hi, just dropping by to say howdy and, heh heh, not be a Phantom Rater.
