I recently went on a trip to a lake, and religiously applied Coppertone Continuous Spray SPF 50 on my body, and Coppertone Sport Faces SPF 50 on my face. I'm fair skinned and wanted to avoid getting burned out in the sun and water.
Yes, it protected my skin from any burns or tanning, but I thought it was going to literally blind me.
Each day within about an hour of application I was left with my eyes becoming so irritated that they turned really red & were constantly watering. I could barely keep my eyes open sometimes because they were so irritated from this stuff! This is despite the claim that the "Faces" product won't run into eyes & sting! HAH!
I even tried NOT applying it anywhere near my eyes, and I was still left with a severe reaction to this junk. Even washing all of it off my face didn't help: I had to completely shower off and scrub down my whole body, apply Visine in my eyes, and sleep it off for 8 hours just to get rid of the sting.
I've never had this problem with other sunblocks or sunscreens, and I will never again buy Coppertone products. I will stick with Banana Boat, which has never given me a problem.
Also, this stuff is HARD to wash completely off. After showering and scrubbing down with soap and a loofah, I was still left with areas of sticky residue on my skin and what looked like little balls of white crud in small patches. The sticky areas would pick up dirt and lint, so I would be walking around looking like a dirty slob. When I would go to sleep, I would feel parts of my skin sticking to the sheets as if I'd had jam smeared on my skin and hadn't washed it off. It was disgusting!
