You don't need much of this fresh, citrusy-smelling wax to get your short hairdo under control. A dollop the size of a small marble is way more than enough for hair up to four or five inches in length. At first, it goes on waxy, and has a bit of a sticky feel, but after you arrange your hair into its style, the wax hardens and dries, and your hair stays in place. If you don't comb through afterwards, your hair will have a piece-y, modern, 'wet' look, plus a bit of shine.  It's not as strong as putties or cements, though, and you'd be unable to build extreme styles that stand straight up, for example. It also acts as a volumizer for fine or thin hair, and does a great job of holding straight to slightly wavy hair in place, and in its style.  To refresh the wet look, after your hair has been combed out, just remoisten, restyle and let it dry once again.  It's fairly easy to shampoo out, but does seem to build up after awhile, and you'll need to wash and rinse several times to get your hair squeaky-clean once again. The 1.8 oz jar lasts a long time, and overall, it's a great value.
