When I want to make sure my money buys me the best product I turn to Consumer Reports.  They provide unbiased reviews with as close to a "real life" situation as possible (how well does a vacuum suction, washing machine clean clothes, camera takes clear pictures, etc.)  They review a… read full review »

I have found that the information in Consumer Reports is all too often out of date, incomplete or just inaccurate. — They seem no better than the so called independent review sites that are often rewarded by the big manufacturers. — Do they buy the products they test or do the… read full review »

Consumer Reports should be your first source before making any purchase - major or minor. Whether you're looking to buy a toaster, laptop, or car...check them out. Get in the habit!!! It will always provide you with information you didn't start with. My personal beefs with them (currently) notwithstanding, they are always the best source and should be the first. —    My current beefs: they review too many SUVs, they no longer review stereo receivers often, nor do they check for the current ohm handling capability ( this is important! Most receivers don't accurately… read full review »

I have been a subscriber to Consumer Reports for many years.  I refer to it whenever I want to buy a new product, especially a TV, washing machine, dryer, etc.  If I hadn't referred to this magazine when I bought my new washer and dryer, I would have bought a repair-prone washer.  I do believe their ratings are unbiased, however, some of their other articles do show some bias, but I can overlook that as long as the ratings are unbiased.  I like the fact that they also look at small items, like peanut butter, as an example and tell you the best buys for types of food,… read full review »

I was appalled by the out of date information and gross inaccuracies in the consumer reports magazine - this was in an area I know extremely well - so why should I have any confidence that the information they publish for areas where I am not so knowledgeable is any more accurate? — The only explanations are either they are being partial (gaining benefit from particular manufacturers) which I hope isn't the case, or complete and utter incompetence in not knowing how to properly test the items they are reviewing. — I couldn't award zero stars otherwise i would have. —… read full review »

I think that Consumer Reports Magazine is worth the money.  My husband and I have checked this magazine many times before we have made any type of purchase, be it small or large.  The magazine has a lot of helpful information on products.  It has helped us decide which brand of product fits our needs the most.  I highly recommend this… read full review »

I have followed Consumer Reports for years, and have noticed a definite trend to trash American made and manufactured products-regardless of what they are...It seems that foreign made products are always evaluated more highly, and quite frankly, over 25 years, I haven't necessarily found that to be the case.   I suppose that back in the 1970's and early 80's, there were alot of American companies who had become complacent and quality control was virtually non-existent.  At that time, Consumer Reports served as an alarm bell to show us all how much more efficiently overseas… read full review »
