Consumer Reports should be your first source before making any purchase - major or minor. Whether you're looking to buy a toaster, laptop, or car...check them out. Get in the habit!!! It will always provide you with information you didn't start with. My personal beefs with them (currently) notwithstanding, they are always the best source and should be the first. — My current beefs: they review too many SUVs, they no longer review stereo receivers often, nor do they check for the current ohm handling capability ( this is important! Most receivers don't accurately…

I have been a subscriber to Consumer Reports for many years. I refer to it whenever I want to buy a new product, especially a TV, washing machine, dryer, etc. If I hadn't referred to this magazine when I bought my new washer and dryer, I would have bought a repair-prone washer. The magazine has a lot of helpful information on products. It has helped us decide which brand of product fits our needs the most. I highly recommend this…

I have followed Consumer Reports for years, and have noticed a definite trend to trash American made and manufactured products-regardless of what they are...It seems that foreign made products are always evaluated more highly, and quite frankly, over 25 years, I haven't necessarily found that to be the case. I suppose that back in the 1970's and early 80's, there were alot of American companies who had become complacent and quality control was virtually non-existent. At that time, Consumer Reports served as an alarm bell to show us all how much more efficiently overseas…
