Condemned: Criminal Origins is first-person horror game. Only unlike many other horror games that i've played, it has a large emphasis on melee combat. The gunplay is severely limited due to the fact that your character (Ethan Thomas) is incapable of carrying ammo of any kind. you can check your ammo by simply looking at the clip and knowing through some innate clairvoyance (which also somehow allows you to solve crimes) how many rounds that you have left. The story is a bit confusing, something about a cult and the fact that you are semi-psycic and the only one that can stop them for someodd reason. Other than these things, the game is actually pretty good. The game's atmosphere is so spooky and intense that i do not recommend playing this alone and in the dark, although in order to get the full effect this (with the addition of surround sound) is a necessity. The enemy AI is well done. They are meant to instill a sense of fear and they do it well. The games sound will have you jumping at the slightest noise. The lighting is the same way. You will either shoot at or avoid every shadow.
All in all, this is a good game for those who have a love of horror.
