I don't like getting ready to go to work. Well I like it a lot more now that I work primarily from home, but on days when I have to go into the office I really dislike the whole process of showering, dressing, and primping to leave. So I like to keep myself entertained in the shower and picked up a Conair Shower Radio to listen to music and to hear the traffic and weather report. It also helps me keep track of how long I'm standing there doing nothing but letting the hot water beat down on my head and wasting gallons.
I've had this shower for a few years now and it is still available. I see it all the time at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and it does not surprise me as mine has held up well and works well so Conair must be doing something right with this one.
The radio housing is made of white plastic and the knobs are green plastic. A rubber gasket surrounds the radion and keeps water out of the inside. The speaker and knobs are on the front of the radio so they are easy to find even if you've got soap in your eye. It has a nice flexible cord so it can be hung from the faucet or shower head. I've got mine hanging from a suction cup hook off to the side where it won't be drenched. The radio is water resistant but I think if it was totally submersed that might not be a good thing. I frequently splash it with water to get soap and shampoo off of it which does not seem to bother the radio at all.
I get pretty good reception in my shower but there are a few spots where it's not so good. I wanted to hang it at the back of the shower and totally away from the faucet but it gets bad reception there so it now hangs near the shower head but as far away from it as possible.
The radio is powered by two AA batteries (not included) that last forever. I know that I only use the radio for about 10 minutes a day and usually only on weekdays, but I've only had to change the batteries once which impressed me.
This radio is very basic but is all that's needed for a quick 10 minute shower. The knobs are easy to turn even with soapy hands and the batteries are easy to replace.
