My boss sent me this past summer (approx 6 months ago) to go get an inexpensive laptop for use at home since my previous one had been far too slow to get anything done.

For the money, the Compaq Presario was the best deal at the time... the speed, ram, size of the monitor, everything about it was perfect for my needs.

The computer, after about 4 months though (approx 1 hr. everyday use) has rough gouges in the "E" and "N" keys (my most used, apparently - and no, I do not have acrylic nails) and the middle of the touchpad is completely worn through and many keys are starting to stick (nothing beneath the keys, no food use around it, etc).

The computer from the start took forever to start up and often hangs up after hibernation, having to shut down incorrectly or allow the battery power to die off in order to restart.

After increasing the memory to 2gigs, the computer now starts in about half the time, but it's still slower than all of my family's laptops and their processors are slower and they have less memory.

I guess the Compaq downfalls DIDN'T go away when HP took over like I was told... they just no longer take exclusively proprietary upgrades anymore.

PS - the computer is the heaviest I've ever had for a laptop.
