This lightweight, extremely portable laptop has everything the average user needs, including MS Office software, rechargeable battery and connector, and three USB ports. Additionally it has a DVD/CD burner and a very fast processor. Memory is enough to handle video projects! Internet connection is a snap and it never crashes. I am a freelance writer and adore it. I recommend this laptop to anyone: student, professional or in between.

     I researched extensively before buying my Compaq Presario 5000; I shopped daily for weeks before purchasing. I compared screen resolution, processing speed, ability to add memory, expand capabilities, and use programs that require a great deal of memory to operate (Adobe Illustrator specifically), do so with multiple programs open at the same time, and still provide quick, excellent function. My selection needed to be capable of more than I would ask of it, needed to come already loaded with the latest in Software and, being a PC person but working with designers and others who were Mac based, the software needed to automatically provide cross platform capabilities. Plus, I needed to be able to play on-line games and have the ability to install or download games with high solution graphics. This does that and a great deal more.      It's been 2 years, and this computer continues to make me happy. It has excellent graphics, terrific speed, and with regular updates to software, continues to keep me 'current' and functioning w/o purchasing new software or other items to keep it this way. HP tech support have helped w/questions and are a great asset besides. I have been extremely happy with this computer and when the time comes to replace it, I will most definitely be looking to its latest version. Compaq Presario 5000 is a great product, very much worth the price, and has exceeded my expectations.

So I got this laptop (Compaq presario V5000) when I went away to college. It has been a very sturdy laptop and worked pretty good. I don't really feel like it's anything special. It is easy to navigate. It stores a lot of pictures, I know that for sure. I have a ton of pictures on it. It has a pretty big screen with it so you could watch movies on it. I have had a few problems but it it probably due to a virus of some sort or something I did. The biggest problem that I have had is that all of a sudden it will turn the cap lock on and you can't get it off. This means if you have any numbers at all in any passwords you use then you can't log in. It also opens everything in a new tab when it is doing this. And I do mean everything...whether you just hit enter or space bar...anything! So you basically can't use it while it is doing this. You normally have to turn it off and back on..and sometimes that doesn't even fix it. I don't know if this is a glitch or just something wrong with mine! For the most part this has been a good reliable laptop for me as a student!

Hello, I am giving some positive feedback for the Compaq Presario V5000 laptop. This laptop is light weight and portable. The battery time last about one and half hour to two hours. Thus, depending on the nature of tasks doing on the laptop. I have had to problems with fitting the laptop into laptop bags. It fits safetly and securly into the ones I have had. I love that is is widescreen. The screen is about 15 inches and it is perfect for viewing. It has AMD mobile sempron processor. Hp is one of the only companies to offer this processor. It also has built in wireless, so I am wireless throughout the house with the help of our router. I have had no problems with the wireless feature. I always log on or get into the network in my area or at my home. I have had this laptop for about two or so years. It is still going strong and seems to be the same as when I first purchased this item a few years ago. It is great. It has windows xp as the operating system. The system is easy to use and find your way around. I am so glad that it came with xp instead of the new windows operating system. This laptop also has great graphics. The colors are clear, crisp, and very vivid. The product open and closes properly. This laptop delivers a great preformance time. There is a toll free phone support system designed to help you with any problems. It easily replaces the use of our home pc. I love to take this laptop when we go on trips or are traveling on vacation or a weekend get away. I got a good deal on the laptop and am very happy with the purchase that I made. It has enough to satifsy me. I had orginally purchased this laptop for school use when I was going to college, but now I have adapted it to everyday home use. Thanks. I recommend this product to anyone interested in buying a laptop. Although, I do not think they are still in production. You will love one of these. Give it a try.

     I have just recently had the pleasure of experiencing a Compaq V5000 Laptop and I love it. It is very fast and mine runs on Windows Vista, which I have heard mixed reviews about. I can't believe all the extra features that was already installed. There was so many programs and firewall protections, which wasn't exactly a good thing. Too many firewalls can be challenging even for the most secure sites. Overall this laptop is at the top of the list for me.

When I teach my children, (I know, crazy homeschool mom of highly literate and socially well adjusted kids) my Compaq V5000 is usually open on my lap or desk as they complete their independent seat work.  In the winter, this is quite nice and toasty.  I really think we paid too much for the quality of machine, but it has been a dependable, sturdy laptop for the past two years.  The screen is nice and wide, and the keyboard has held up remarkably well considering the number of keystrokes it has endured.  When we have used it as a portable theater on vacation, the volume has been adequate for three kids in a minivan. The only annoyance (other than the mild sunburn I get on my legs) it provides is the fact that it takes  f o r e v e r  to boot up and log on.  I could boot up our desktop, log on and check my email in the same amount of time it takes me to simply boot up the laptop. However, if you're looking for a dependable leg warmer, this is the model for you.

I purchased my V5000 two years ago and have experienced no problems with it (save the blips introduced by MS software). The display is ample and easy to view, and the keyboard is accessible by even big-boy hands! Though I hadn't ever used a TouchPad, I found it easy to learn to use and customize. Could wish it were lighter, but am glad it stands up to use and abuse! I carry the laptop around in a padded courier case, which is adequate protection when traveling.I use my Presario for software development, email, and Internet research, and have found the default RAM config adequate for that work. Would recommend more RAM if you intend to do any online gaming.I opted for WXP instead of Vista (which is a resource hawg), and would recommend others do the same.
