Bottom-Line: All-n-all Comet Disinfectant Cleanser with Bleach in the tall green canister works and works well. I will never use anything else.
My first memories of Comet Disinfectant Cleanser with Bleach stem from childhood when my mother used to clean the kitchen sink and counters with it every night after dinner. The house was never without it, and so it is with my household today.
My Viewpoint
Comet Disinfectant Cleanser with Bleach is as all-American as the preverbal apple pie. It is a simple formula that never fails to cleanse what we need cleaning. I use it at least once a week on the kitchen sinks and counters, while my wife uses Comet to clean the burners on the stove and clean out the toilet, tubes and sinks in the bathrooms.
To disinfect Non-Porous Surfaces such as our porcelain sinks, sprinkle Comet on a wet surface, rub gently to cleanse, let stand 5 minutes or so, then rinse with warm water. In order to disinfect our toilet bowls, we flush first, sprinkle on some Comet onto the wet bowl surfaces, scour thoroughly with a toilet brush, then let stand 10 minutes, and flush. Comet claims to wipe out most household germs including Staph, Salmonella and Pseudomonas.
"Note: On delicate surfaces like plastic, imitation marble, and appliance enamel, use plenty of water, rub gently and rinse. If you are cleaning unfamiliar surface, test a small area first. Do not use on silver, painted surfaces, walls, soft plastic, aluminum or rubber items (except tires). Do not mix with other products, especially toilet bowl cleaners or products that contain ammonia."
All-n-all Comet Disinfectant Cleanser with Bleach in the tall green canister works and works well. For one brief period I bought two cans of Ajax because they were on sale for $.99. I could not wait for them to run out, because Ajax does not work nearly as well as Comet.
Again, sometime-often times-cheaper is not always better.
