Comcast - Cable Company —

So all this talk about digital started a discussion about Comcast versus my current provider of Dish Network through ATT.  An installation and upgrade of service while using Comcast Cable has taught me a lot about this service, that in many areas is the only one available. I am lucky, in my area I have choices.

In order to upgrade your Comcast Cable you have to wait around until they can come to your home to install the new high definition cable box (sort of like a little black box).  Installation went great -- if you include having to take the whole day off work to wait, but that seems pretty standard.

Ahh the joy of HD Cable TV, as I sit down that evening hoping to enjoy my new HDTV and HD cable and a movie.  Imagine my surprise to find that high definition sound was everything I had hoped for -- but high definition viewing was another matter. I couldn't view anything!  With Comcast Cable I have approximately 300 channels including music and the Starz movie package and all I can do is hear them, with the occasional viewing pleasure thrown in.

A call to Comcast Cable and another box is (somewhat) promptly delivered.  Have you ever read the back of your shampoo bottle, where it says lather, rinse repeat? Try having that on your brand new HDTV and HD cable service. We had to turn on, call and repeat. Three boxes total and a whole 2 days credit to our bill, we could then enjoy the so called joys of high definition cable service Comcast Cable style.

Don't get me started on the bundle package of high speed Internet and telephone service. You will just have to wait for those reviews!

My Viewpoint:  Move to the ATT bundle package- it's easier and less expensive. I get more for my money.

Unfortunately no choices here.

Yeah I agree... We don't really have a choice for cable providers at this point and the service is not that great. I'm not impressed with digital TV.

Great review! We have Time Warner Cable in my area.

And incidentally, I think all the providers are too expensive nowadays. They know most of us feel like we can't live without televisions or computers and they are seriously taking advantage of that IMO!

Great review but I'm sorry you had problems with it. I have mixed feelings about Comcast but the reception is usually great in our area (except for occasional unexplained outages which haven't happened in a while.) I am leery of "bundle" deals because I've noticed that in a bundle deal when one thing goes down, they all go out and you can't use EITHER the computer OR the t.v. I would also never switch to AT&T for cable because of all the problems I've encountered with their Yahoo computer service. I'll be looking forward to your other reviews about these things, Lisa.

I love my service with Time Warner Cable but I only do basic. I have 80 channels. TWC also does a package with digital phone, High Speed and Cable. My gripe w/TWC is that when you need an in-home svc. call they schedule you when they have a tech in the area. One time I had to wait 7 days to get my cable repaired. But they did credit my bill. It's a good thing I have tons of movies I could watch while the cable was out. Comcast oversees our phone services at my office.
