Oh how I wish I had a choice!.  I live in an area where there is only one cable company and since I live in an apartment, Direct TV is not an option.  The cable company seems to know this and take full advantage of the situation.  The bills are high and the service is bad.  If you are late with a payment they disrupt service without even a warning or late notice. When the service goes out due to weather etc they are not likely to credit you for time without service and they don't rush to turn it back on.  I recently spent three days without tv,computer, or phone because I have a package.  That totally sucked and it was irritating because they didn't seem to care.  It gets worse because they didn't come out the first day because they said I need to be at home and since they didn't show up within their window of time, I had to call and reschedule because I had a prior appointment.  The next day I went through an entire day of waiting for them at home with nothing else to do.  They never showed up at my door at all.  The cable was fixed from some remote location and they called me several hour later to confirm..  Seems like they could have done that in the first place.

I think the programming was better before they went digital and HD.  I swear I had more channels or choices in shows a few years back.  I also hate that unless you pay with your life and your firstborn, you still lack a lot of channels.  With the percentage of my income that goes towards this bill each month, I believe I should have all of the premium channels.  In the past I have tried to remove channels in order to lower the bill.  That works for a month or two, then they raise my rates and I find myself paying the original price for fewer channels.  The bottom line is I can't live without it, but I still hate it.
