Here's a 7-month saga with Comcast. Long story short (and, trust me, this IS the short version...), I canceled my TV in November but kept my internet. January, I find out they're still billing me for TV and have been since November. I had set up automatic billing, so I wasn't paying much attention to my bills. I go through rounds and rounds of calling customer service, finally a promise for a refund. March, I look again and there it is, still charging me. More rounds, more assurance of a refund.

This time though, they somehow disconnect my internet in the process. I am completely "wired," so being without an internet connection affected both my business and my mental health. A few more rounds of calls later, jumping through various hoops of incompetence, they give me a time window in which my modem (still fully working in my apartment) would be reactivated from their center. Never happens. Another time window the next day, finally reactivated from the center, no one ever enters my apartment or touches my modem because the equipment never went anywhere...and not to mention I never even requested that my internet be disconnected in the first place.

A week later, a statement for a Blah Blah Blah Pro Install Blah Blah $24.95. WHAT? (Also in the statement, my "usual" monthly TV bill.) Hours with the morons later, a "customer retention" rep (you should always ask for those peeps, they'll crawl and beg to keep you as a subscriber), an investigation is initiated (translation: they'll spend 3 months in denial of their own fuck up, and finally possibly give me back the money they STOLE from me.) I am still waiting to hear from them about how this is going to be resolved, if at all.

And while I realize my case is just one of millions and not necessarily representative of general tendencies, there seems to be an enormous consumer backlash against Comcast. Just reading ComcastMustDie.com for a minute makes you start questioning whether severely negative customer experiences like my own are really isolated incidents or something bigger.
