Every home should have one
Along with your first aid kit and thermometer, every home should have a combination enema syringe. A warm enema still remains a better choice for the relief of constipation and general health maintenance compared to the use of drugs. A quality combination enema syringe is worth the extra cost and will last for years. Here is what to look for: 1. There is no need to purchase an extra large capacity bag. A two-quart bag, the type sold in drugstores, is sufficient. The better quality bags are made by the same companies which manufacture automobile tires. You may need to search for this item in an independant drugstore. 2. Select a bag which is flat on one side and has raised ribs on the other side. "The ribs serve to moderate the heat when the bag is used as a hot water bottle. 3. Select a brand with a metal hose clamp, not a plastic clamp. 4. Select a brand which has a rubber washer at both ends of the detachable hose. If the hose is not detachable, this is not a combination enema syringe. This is a fountain syringe, and I don't recommend them. 5. Select a brand which has a rectal nozzzle which is slightly skinny at the middle and larger at the tip. This helps to prevent the nozzle from being expelled. These nozzles are usually black in color, but the color doesn't matter. Avoid the tapered nozzles which are skinny at the tip. 6. Look for a brand with a 2 year warranty. Cheaper brands only offer a 90-day warranty. 7. Decide who is going to use the combination enema syringe and for what purpose. Discard the extra nozzles which you are not going to use. For example, if the combination enema syringe is going to be used on a child, discard the adult rectal nozzle and the douche nozzle. 8. Never share your equipment with anyone, even members of your own family. this will prevent the spread of infection. 9. Always clean your equipment promptly after each use and allow it to air dry before putting it into storage. 10. When purchasing your combination enema syringe, you should also purchase some type of lubricant. Petrolium jelly works best, but it is harmful to rubber products and must be cleaned carefully. Water-based lubricants, such as K-Y jelly are less effective, but easier to clean up.
