Making Our Kids Look Good And Be Safe

With my son in his freshman year of high school and my daughter in 6th grade, I've been getting school portraits done for ten years. For what seems like all of those years, they've always been done by Color Portraits, Inc. I know that, because I remember who I write the checks to every year. They've always done well with my kids' portraits, and I was never unhappy. This year they added a little something to their service to make it even more attractive.
The Old Service
I don't know if the basic business of getting your picture taken at school has changed at all over the years. It seems to be the same as it was thirty, thirty-five years ago when I was getting my school portrait done. Believe it or not, they still hand out the same black combs. The same thing they did to me, bothers me about what they do to my daughter. They never seemed to like the way I did my hair, and would always try to "fix it," pushing it all behind my back. They now do the same thing to my daughter, which kills me after having it done to me years ago, and after I spend a painstaking amount of time getting it just right before she leaves for school. I see this as universal, though. Other than that, I have enjoyed every portrait done by Color Portraits Inc.
The New Service
This year, Color Portraits Inc. came up with something new, something that is of interest if you decide to order additional pictures, something that makes it easier than calling them up, and they also are providing a service to keep your kids safe. Color Portraits Inc. has gone online. The obvious thing is that you can visit them online and order more portraits of your child, which is something people will probably do before they would call the number on the package when they receive their pictures.
Additionally, with your child's picture floating around the internet, Color Portraits Inc. decided to use it for a very good purpose. I wasn't aware of it beforehand, but yesterday my daughter brought home a plastic card with her picture. It's one of those that are split with a regular wallet-size card attached to a slim card with a whole to fit onto my keychain. This includes not only the website, http://www.colorportraits.com/, but also a code to access your child's picture. It's not only used for ordering pictures, though. If your child goes missing, and you need to get your child's picture to the authorities right away, they can access it. When you call 911, you give them the website and your code, and they can access it in a matter of seconds and get to your child's picture to know who they are looking for and also use it to include with am Amber Alert. That's invaluable to me. It's one less thing to worry about. Instead of having that additional worry on how to get a picture to the authorities, and having to get one out and scan it in, I can just give them that info on the phone and it's done. Of course, it's an optional program. You can opt out of it at the website as well.
Conclusion
Before this year, Color Portraits Inc. made my children look good, but I only thought about them when I wrote that check. Next year when I write that check, it will mean more to me, as I'll be saying thank you, as I sign my name, for doing what they can to allay my fears.
