Overall this school provided me with a phenomenal college experience. Although very tough academically, it prepared me well for my future academic work in graduate school and the rest of the world outside of William and Mary. I met some of my best friends at this school. The community is extremely tight knit and all members share a special bond. The majority of students return for Homecoming year after year, which clearly says something about the nature of the school. Even after graduating and venturing out to places around the country and around the world, we William and Mary students simply cannot stay away from our alma mater for too long. Unfortunately, the food on campus is less than stellar. The food in the University Center and the Caf are both traditional cafeteria style dining. The food is generally tasteless, oily, or just plain disgusting. The only redeeming factor for these two dining halls is the soft serve icecream machines they offer. Sometimes these machines even make it worthwhile to bear with the disgusting food served there. The marketplace, the other dining establishment on campus, offers much better food, but more limited choices. That was generally my dining hall of choice, but it was easier to get sick of the food there due to the more limited selection. As far as the campus itself goes, it is a gorgeous place. The way the campus is intertwined with Colonial Williamsburg provides for an extremely unique college experience. Professors are extremely willing to interact with students, and most even want to see students do well, although sometimes it doesn't seem that way because exams can be extremely difficult. I attended this school from out of state, so although it is a top Virginia public school, many people do attend from out of state. I highly recommend giving William and Mary a further look if you or anyone you know is planning to apply to College.
