Chiggers are the larvae of harvest or scrub mites. Mites go through three life cycle stages: eggs, larvae, nymphs and then adults. The nymph and adult harvest mites feed on plants and don't annoy us but in the larval stage, they are parasitic. The larval mite will attach itself to tall grass or vegetation so that it can spring into action when a passing animal or person goes by. It then attaches to the animal or person to gather the protein it needs to grow into the nymph stage. As it sucks the protein intense itching will occur. There are ways to prevent the bites but if you were not that far thinking or unsuccessful in your attempts then you will need to treat them as the itching will drive you crazy!  That is where Colgin Brand Chigarid comes in.

Just dab the applicator on the chigger bite to feel relief.  The camphor and menthol starts to calm the bite and then as the product dries it will seal out air and germs to promote faster healing.  The itching goes away so you don't feel the need to scratch and get the bit infected.  As a girl we would use clear nail polish.  It works great for the sealing out air and germs part but the added ingredients of Chigarid make it superior to the nail polish solution.

Chigarid has a strong scent when first opened but once it is applied the smell will go away after a few minutes.  Make sure you have a bottle before you go out in tall grasses or uncut fields.  You'll be glad you do.

INGREDIENTS:

Camphor 2.8%
Phenol 1.5%
Menthol 0.1%
Also Contains: Collodion and Oil of Eucalyptus

That must be the reason, I can't think of anything else. ;>

I've never figured out why the good Lord made them! [To keep us humble I guess.]

Chiggers are horrible! I learned a lot about them in your review.
