Colgate Total Advanced Plus Whitening Toothpaste Review

On the last day before my return home from Eagle Rock, I ran out of toothpaste, gol' darn it.  Fortunately, Walgreen's was within a block of the Comfort Inn and so it was that I found myself seriously shopping for toothpaste for the first time in a while.  (Usually I stick with Mentadent except for traveling, when my usual course is to go with something travel size and cheap.)  There I stood, staring down thoughtfully at the bewildering assortment of ADA approved wonders and finally decided to give Colgate "Total" Advanced Whitening Toothpaste a try as much because it seemed to me that I had seen Brooke Shields in a commercial for the product as for any other reason.

The toothpaste seemed to work beautifully and resulted in the same sort of super-clean taste and feel that I get from Mentadent.  (Maybe not quite as good, but close.)  It wasn't until I got home and researched Colgate "Total" Advanced Whitening Toothpaste on the Internet that I realized that it really is different.  The family of Colgate "Total" Toothpastes are the only ones made in the United States which contain the antibacterial ingredient Triclosan as part of a "unique formula (which) continues to work even after you stop brushing.  Yes, even after you eat or drink."  Colgate-Palmolive claims that "Colgate Total is the first and only toothpaste to receive the ADA Seal of Acceptance for protection against plaque, gingivitis, and cavities."  It seems to me that we have heard this song before, but the fact remains that now I have this tube of Colgate Total to finish up ... so I'm going to continue to use Mentadent at night and Colgate Total in the morning, just to see what happens.
