Too spicy for my little one and the tube was a mess!

2

My daughter saw the Dora Colgate for Kids Toothpaste at the store and had to have it! I thought that it would be a good choice as it would encourage her to brush her teeth. As soon as we got home, she was ready to brush. My initial thought on the toothpaste tube was that the flip cap end would be easy for her to open and close and that it would be very handy. She was able to manipulate that pretty well and I liked it. The paste went on the brush nicely. However, as soon as my daughter started brushing, she immediately began complaining that the paste was "too spicy". She has used other fluoride pastes and not had any issue. I tasted a bit of it and I had to agree. The flavor was pretty intense...much stronger than I would expect for a kids toothpaste. As time went on, I could convince her to use it, if I put a super small smear of paste on her brush. I'm not sure it was even enough to give her the benefit of paste at all. Furthermore, the design of the flip cap became a problem too. If it didn't get closed all the way, the paste would leak out the bottom of the tube and become a huge mess. The flip cap needs be be at the top of the tube!! Poor tube design and bad tasting paste. We ended up throwing out the toothpaste.

Dora the Explorer now Promotes Toothpaste

Kids need to learn the importance of brushing their teeth and one way to encourage them is by purchasing special toothpaste that they can call their own. One product we have tried with mixed results is **Colgate Dora the Explorer Fluoride Toothpaste**, a Colgate product that features the popular Nickelodeon television character. **Toothpaste Commentary**: Colgate Dora the Explorer Fluoride Toothpaste is a product made with kids in mind. It features the television character, Dora the Explorer, and fans of the show will be immediately attracted to the product for this reason alone. The flavor of this toothpaste is referred to as Bubble Fruit, which is like a combination of bubblegum and fruit flavors. The product also contains fluoride to fight cavities and it can be used by adults and children age two and older. Colgate Dora the Explorer Fluoride Toothpaste requires very little for each brushing. A small, pea- size amount of toothpaste is all that is needed to get the job done. Kids will often take to it right away, but one potential problem is the taste. It is an odd combination of flavors and some kids will like it while others will hate it. If it doesn't pass the taste test with your child, it will prove to be money wasted because most kids will refuse to use it. My girls find it ok, but they have other toothpaste flavors (like Colgate strawberry) that they like better. This toothpaste has a large cap, which is good for small hands. But there is a small problem with squeezing out the toothpaste. It dispenses more than necessary, and this means that parents may need to assist. And as the tube nears the end, it is difficult to squeeze out the final paste, so some will get wasted. **Bottom Line Viewpoint:** So, what is my and my girls' bottom- line on this toothpaste? Well, it has enough going for it to rate as acceptable. The taste isn't the greatest and squeezing the tube can present problems. But my girls still use it and this is enough to convince me to rate it as acceptable overall.

I realize that I may not always be able to find a toothpaste that both my children will agree on, but I was really hoping that buying **Colgate Palmolive Colgate Fluoride Toothpaste Dora 4.6 oz **would get my children excited about brushing their teeth.  I may have been wrong.  What do we like about **Colgate Palmolive Colgate Fluoride Toothpaste Dora 4.6 oz? ** - it's Colgate and it's Dora  - cavity protection  - prevents tooth decay  - the flavor (bubble fruit?) What don't we like about **Colgate Palmolive Colgate Fluoride Toothpaste Dora 4.6 oz? ** - the flavor - my other child (and I agree) says it needs one flavor or the other the mixture means she doesn't like either one of them.  - the dispenser - it's messy and goopy and way too much comes out even when Mommy is the one doing the application  - doesn't leave them with fresh breath  Sure, it's got a cute character on it, and sure **Colgate Palmolive Colgate Fluoride Toothpaste Dora 4.6 oz **is supposed to be good for their teeth, but we have tried better (now if only I can remember what it was I remember a strawberry front).  They actually BOTH agreed on it.  I know we will keep using it, but right now it's close becoming a fight to get the one daughter (age 5) to use it because of the messiness and the flavor.  The 4 year old doesn't mind so much.

Super hard for kids to get out, even for adults too!

Colgate is usually one of my favorite brands of toothpaste for their good quality in design, product and product's taste.  So, since my children love Dora and this was a kids toothpaste I figured this would be a great fit for them to help them want to brush their teeth without complaints.  Although the packaging looks cute and my kids love the picture of Dora on it, they do not like this toothpaste.  Its flavor is fine and they like it OK as it is a mild flavor and so it is not too overpowering.  But, the packaging is HORRIBLE!  In order to squeeze out this toothpaste, it is virtually impossible for small hands to squeeze it out.  It is even a challenge at times for adults.  I am not sure what in the packaging design causes this but it is super difficult to push out the toothpaste.  Once you are able to get it to come out after a long struggle, a ton will come out, which will create a big mess.  It is a big hassle and not worth the fight with the packaging of this product.

I recently purchased this for my 3 year old daughter.  She loves the bubble gum flavor which is a major plus (it's cuts out the dreaded fight over brushing her teeth).  I have also purchased the Sponge Bob and Littlest Pet Shop versions of this.  The cartoon characters seem to interest her and not make her afraid of teeth brushing time.  She even wants to put the tooth paste on her on brush and participate in brushing, mommy getting the back teeth of course!  On downside is I don't feel it gets her teeth as clean as it could.  Sometimes I mix in a little regular toothpaste of my own to make sure they are clean.  That just adds extra worry about her swallowing the toothpaste though.  I also don't think it makes her breath smell much better after about five minutes.  Cost of this is not a factor, I find it to be affordable.  I think I may have to shop around a little more to find something that makes both of us happy.  I would recommend it more as a training toothpaste than an  actual cleaning product.

This Colgate toothpaste is a hit with my three year old!

My daughter loves this toothpaste because it looks great (Dora the Explorer on the packaging) and it tastes great (fruit flavor), plus, the paste is pink! I love this toothpaste because she loves it and is always willing to brush her teeth with it, and every dentist visit she's had has been good... so it must be working.

My daughter loves to brush

4

About 2 months ago I purchased the Dora Colgate Fluoride Toothpaste for my 2 year old daughter. She loves it! The bubblegum flavor is a treat for her, and she is always eager to brush her teeth. The toothpaste lasts a long time, as little is used for brushing. I have found the Dora Colgate Fluoride Toothpaste for be an excellent value for the money. The only downside to this toothpaste is that I don't think it keeps her mouth clean as long as a toothpaste we had tried in the past. That is unfortunate. Although for my daughter, she enjoys brushing more often, so it works out for both of us. I am always hesitant to pay for a character on a product, however this is a good product regardless of the character on the toothpaste. The Dora Colgate Fluoride Toothpaste has lasted a long time in our home and will continue to be an ecellent way of teaching my daughter to brush with a fuoride toothpaste!

Colgate dora the explorer toothpaste Is the best! Not only does it taste good it is ADA approved to prevent and reduce tooth decay when used correctly. If your a mother you know the headache it can be to get your little ones to brush their teeth! Not when dora the explorer is on the front. I usually do not buy via marketing techniques but colgate hit the nail on the head with this product My daughters want to brush their teeth all day long. (which is fine by me) On a serious note it is a grat product with great advantages anything that can help fom my children having dental issues deserves a big thumbs up. So if your a mother and getting your children to brush their teeth is just as bad as pulling them give it a shot especially for all of our dora the explorer loving daughters out there its worth it. I reccomend this to every mother i have contact with. Thank you colgate for being so reliable
