Colgate Baking Soda and Peroxide Whitening Oxygen Bubbles Brisk Mint Paste —

It seems that every week the toothpaste manufacturers are coming out with a different type of toothpaste.  Most of the time, however, they don't seem to perform any better than the version they replaced.  Still, I was curious to try the newest toothpaste on the store shelf, Colgate Whitening with Oxygen Bubbles

The active ingredient that creates the bubbling effect is the added peroxide.  The ingredient list also includes fluoride and baking soda, which can be found in almost every other toothpaste.  The only remarkable property of Colgate with Oxygen Bubbles is that the tingling sensation that is supposed to be refreshing.  Instead of a whitening, refreshing feeling, it felt like the fires of Hell had erupted inside of my mouth.  I couldn't stand it for longer than 30 seconds, and my gums felt very sore and tender afterward.  I thought perhaps my reaction was a fluke, and I tried the toothpaste again a few days later, with the same results.

Fortunately, there are many other whitening toothpastes on the market that don't irritate my mouth like Colgate Whitening with Oxygen Bubbles does.  I'll be using those brands and avoiding this one in the future.  Colgate does have some good products, but I can't recommend this one.

Wow! I'll be surprised if this toothpaste stays on the market for any length of time. It is entirely too strong. Thanks for commenting. :)

My husband and I both actually suffered loss of taste because of using this toothpaste. I got sores on my tongue, lots of pain, and even a sore throat!! I've NEVER had a reaction like that to a toothpaste. I thought I was really sick until it struck me that it was probably the toothpaste. Once I stopped using it, it still took me a week to heal and taste everything again!

I know, my husband loves it and it doesn't bother him at all. I must be super sensitive to some ingredient they're putting in the toothpaste. Thanks for reading and commenting. :)

i have been using the same toothpaste and it seems to work great for me. Once i get done brushing, i put some warm water in my mouth to get the residue off of my teeth and as far as the whitening goes... IT IS A MIRACLE!!!

I had a similar reaction to one of the toothpaste's with peroxide. I looked like a rabid dog--foaming at the mouth and the longer I tried to brush the more I began to gag because the peroxide was so intense. My dentist said the peroxide and whitening toothpastes are not recommended for people who have sensitive teeth. ~Gigi

My husband can use it with no problem, but something in the formula just makes me go "Yikes!" :)

I'm just glad it didn't do real damage. You might have spared somebody else that with this great review! There might be something in there that you were allergic to.
