Just through regular use, I usually end up either losing or damaging the standard metal tent pegs that come with my backcountry tents. When that happens I need to get some replacements, I'll pick up a package of these stakes from Coghlan's, which call them Skewer Pegs. While these pegs are cheap, they do a good job helping you stake down your backcountry tent.
The pegs are made from twisted steel to give some extra hold in the ground. You get six of the pegs in a package. The pegs are easy enough to push into the ground and have curved heads so that you can wrap your tent rope around without the rope slipping. The pegs weigh less than an ounce each and they are easy enough to roll up with tents. They are basically the same standard steel or aluminum pegs that come with some tents. I've used them as replacements for the original metal tent pegs that have come with a couple of my tents and I really can't find any difference between the original ones and these.
My Take
Easy to find, inexpensive, and practically the same as the originals that come with many tents, Coghlans' Skewer Tent Pegs are a great way to restock your tent peg supply. I don't have any problem telling others to pick them up.
