Last night I was in Wal-Mart and saw a bin with the holiday Cokes in it. They are little 13.5 oz. bottles with Santa and the polar bear. The little round shape make them look like Christmas ornaments. I just had to have one. It was only $1.00 and too cute to pass by.
I researched the history of Coke because I knew a little bit of trivia that I wanted to put in my review. Coca-Cola got its name because it was originally believed back during the days of prohibition that the drink had a slight trace of cocaine in it but it was considered for medicinal purposes. A man named Pemberton had to fight for the right to bottle this product because it was considered a banned and evil thing for society to get their hands on.
Initially they were only allowed to sell Coke through soda fountains because lawmakers believed this was a way of controlling how much could be consumed. As the years passed and more people began to protest for the right to buy it it was released to the public. The classic contoured, skirted bottle was birthed.
The first bottling company for Coca-Cola was built in Chattanooga, TN in 1899. You see that MikeMaroon and LisaCarey? We have another claim to fame. The contoured bottle was a result of someone saying the drink could quench your thirst like a woman could satisfy a man. Thus, the hourglass shape and the bottomed-skirt was to resemble the hemline of a lady's dress. Did you know that?
One day I was reading the history of the Coke products on the back of a nostalgic Coke case. Have you ever wondered why Coke uses Santa in its holiday products? One of their bottle designs was released on Christmas day in the early 19th century and to celebrate the birth of the new bottle they coupled it with Santa.
Coca-Cola said they will not allow a child under age 12 to be in any of their commercials because there have been too many accusations about the issues of childhood obesity and ADD/ADHD. Coke says they know that young people are a big consumer of their products but they will not run the risk of negative propaganda.
The holiday Christmas Coca-Cola ball contains the original formula and says it is very low in sodium.

Okay, so Coke isn't the healthiest beverage on the market but it sure does taste good! So, have a Coke and a smile. I hope you enjoy the pictures of my other Coke bottles and products.
