Do you order any clothing either on line or from catalogs?

Have you had either a really good or a completely  awful experience? What were they?

Which companies would you recommend? Which companies would you warn people to avoid? Why?

With the holidays coming up we are all short on time. On line and catalogs are becoming much more popular. But would you use them?

I have used catalogs for a long time. I've only had a computer for about 6 months so I have only shopped on line for 5 months.

So far I've had great experiences with the "Big 3": LL Bean, Land's End & Eddie Bauer. I have always gotten great value for my money, nothing about my order was ever wrong & I recieved my order promptly.

A slightly lesser know company, The Vermont Country Store, is almost as good and features a lot of other departments where I shop when I am buying clothes.

On the other hand, Old Pueblo Traders has been a disaster. Whatever I order is usually "out of stock" although it comtinues to be shown in future catalogs. Several times I got a product in the wrong size or color. Often the product looked nothing like the way it looked and was advertised in the catalog.

The last straw was when I tried to exchange a pair of shoes that were the wrong size for the exact same shoe, same color for a different size. Simple? Not hardly. First I got a letter from Customer Service saying I couldn't have the shoes until I paid $36.99 plus handling. I wrote and called. Both times I explained that the shoes were already paid for. No luck. Finally I got a computer and e-mailed them.

That got results of a sort. I got a check for the amount of my purchase. I never did get my shoes.

You have to be very careful of shipping and handling costs. Often even if the clothing itself is a bargain, the shipping and handling charges are outrageous. Check out the whole cost before you hit the "submit" choice. I have decided not to purchase a product several times for that reason alone.

I'm looking forward to other people's input on this matter.

i've never shopped through a catalog before but i have shopped online. i've shopped for clothes at 77 kids, american eagle, abercrombie and fitch, mini boden, ebay, aerie and kohls and i just can't think of any other ones right now. i would recommend any of these sites. i usually go with sites that offer payment through paypal so i don't have to give away any CC info. also i usually go with sites that offer free shipping and free return shipping. all of the sites that i shop at shipping is free either just becuase that's what they do or they're having a promotion. i LOVE shopping online!

I sometimes order clothes on eBay.  I will buy nice dresses there for the Marine Corps Ball (and hope they fit).  I will also buy clothes from eBay if I am familiar with a brand and generally know how it fits me or what size I am in that brand.  Shirts are much easier to get right than pants!

i am a person that like to order off line with clothes, because they might be what you think you saw when you get them in person.  they may be to a large or to small and you have to send them back.  and that is more trougle

I order EVERYTHING online. I have had more good experiences than bad. I usually have enough pull (I always tell them I am a reviewer and will be reviewing their site if they give me trouble and I DO review the site, good or bad, and that sure wakes some site owners up) to have decent experiences. Some sites are just plain GOOD. Others, I expect delays and other issues.

I like Smart Bargains for higher end stuff and there are a zillion sites I count on. I actively avoid a few sites. I always use cash back sites and I look for coupon codes. I have saved a ton of money online. I don't try clothes on in stores anyway so, if they don't fit when I get them from an online source, it's not a big deal. I honestly rarely get stuff I have to send back. I know my sizes and I know the sizing of the places I shop. Shoes can be a little tough because it's so hard to know how they will feel but even then, I have had good luck and saved a ton.

I have also had more good experiences than bad. LL Bean is great, I have never had a bad experience on eBay, I've gotten clothes and underthings from Victoria's Secret online, Dillard's, the website Just My Size (jms.com) is excellent for plus sized clothing and lingerie. They suggest clothes for 7 shapes of women and with the underwear, you can click on different models to see which would be closest to you. You know what? I have even gotten clothes from thebreastcancersite.org they have clothes even without pink ribbons on there, and the quality was excellent and no matter what you give a donation to the research!

If I shop online ANYWHERE and it comes up with the screen that asks if you have a coupon or promotional code, I open another window and go to retail me not and search for a code. I almost always get free shipping or a percentage off. I even bought credits for stock photography on a website (123rf.com) because I use their images for avatars and stuff. retail me not had a code for that website and I got 15% more credits for free.  Who knew there was a photography coupon code?

For electronics, i do like adorama camera. I have had excellent luck with them. Good luck. pd

I order clotes online all the time.I pretty much know my size but you can run into things not being just right so I only order from a few select places.I like to do it and can find god deals and stuff that no one in my area has so thats the neat part.I am short so when it comes to jeans I usually have to have them taken to a seamstress and my aunt was one for years so I let her do all the handy work and she is good too.Just ask her how many jeans that I have brought her.

Although it's been a while since I've done much ordering online, I've had pretty positive experiences with it.  I used to order through Amazon when I was getting certs for being part of a forum.  It works alright as long as you understand how Amazon works being a "universal shopping cart."  This means you could pay a lot in shipping if you don't try to coordinate your purchases.

I buy almost all my shoes from Zappos .com . It's great because you can search by size/color and then only look at styles available in what you want.  Once in a while I get a pair that is too tight/uncomfortable, and I send them back at no additional charge.
