OK so I couldn't leave well enough alone and HAD to play with the candle on my desk.  I was smooshing the sides in to make it burn more evenly when SPLASH!  The sides caved in.  Wax on the desk, wax on my face, wax in my hair.  All fixable.  Except for the fact that it's all over the front of my favorite sweatshirt :(  Boo.

Anyone know a way to get wax out of fabric?

Take a damp towel and put it over the wax spill.  Then apply a hot electric iron to the towel.  The wax will wick into the towel.

If it's a fresh spill, a put the item in the freezer for a half hour. Then I peel off as much wax that I can. Next I put some paper towels or rags. I put the item on top of that and paper towels or rags on top of the item. I  press the hot iron on it and presto the wax is gone from the item!!!! This has worked for me on tops, skirts, dresses, napkins and tablecloths.

just some advice.....if you use a soy candle the wax is a lot easier to clean up.

Thanks for the tips!  Hmmm... off to check if it's a soy candle.  It doesn't say so I'm thinking it's just plain old wax.

Is it in a jar or a tin? All the soy candles I've seen so far are in small tins.

It's just a pillar candle so no jar or tin, it's just nekkid LOL.

lol well i definitely recommend the soy candles. they're a lot better over all than regular candles. they produce about 90% less soot than regular candles, they last longer, of course they're enviromentally friendly and better for your health, they put out more of a scent  and they're easier to clean.

I agree. Also I forgot about the Gade soy candles. Some artisans who create soy candles told me they prefer pouring into tins because it doesn't cause the soot like the glass jars do. Soy candles burn more evenly too and can last longer too.

In that case, I'd say it's regular wax.

Well I'm back and very happy to report that the wax came out!  I'm so happy.  I froze it, then ironed it, then used degreaser to get the oil spots out and now I'm sitting here wearing it again and it's good as new.  Thanks so much for the advice!
