There are four of us in the family and my husband alone has more sneakers and boots for work than anyone I know. Being summer, my children have sneakers, sandals and crocs piled in the entryway. Okay, I will admit that I am also guilty. I add significantly to the pile. It got to the point where it was difficult to even open the door. One day, I had just about had it! I was bound and determined to find something to get these shoes organized. Anything we weren't using for the summer was put away but it seemed like the pile of the shoes we did use was bigger. Now what? After searching a few stores, I finally found the ClosetMaid Stackable 25 Cube Organizer at Target on sale for $37.49 (originally $49.99). Wahoo! It was just what I was looking for!

My Experience

This organizer is made out of particleboard with a laminate finish and measures 32 by 24 by 12 inches (height by width by depth). Cubes measure 4.5 by 5.75 inches (width by height). There were several finishes to choose from such as cherry, white, walnut and maple. None of which I really liked. Then I saw the espresso and because I was going to be storing shoes in it, I figured the darker the better. I didn't want anything that showed dirt or mud too much. It was also quite attractive. My husband assembled this organizer and says it was quite easy to do. Now for the fun part! After placing it in the entryway, I started adding shoes to the cubbies. Pairs of the kid's shoes fit perfectly in one cube as well as a few of my sandals. I was a bit disappointed though that adult sneakers only fit one shoe in each cube. This organizer isn't specifically made for shoes therefore I really can't complain. In the end, it fit all of the shoes that I needed it to. I placed a pretty cloth placemat over the top and put a nice picture of my children, a candleholder and a vine of white flowers around it. Now when the door is opened, the space that was once a huge pile of stinky shoes is now attractive and organized. It took a little to train the kiddos to put their shoes in the cubes but they got the routine down. Now if I could only train the hubby...

My Final Viewpoint

The ClosetMaid Stackable 25 Cube Organizer is durable, attractive, versatile and affordable when on sale. I really do recommend this to anyone who is trying to get more organized and I am giving it a 4 star rating.

I love organizing things. I actually thought about getting this for shoes but opted for something else. It does look like it would be great place to store my yarn....hmmm :)

LOL!! I get onto my kids for leaving thier shoes in the kitchen, not entry way. I'm guilty of throwing them in my closet. Every now and then I pay my daughter $2 to align my shoes in my closet. I probably have approx. 50 pairs. She'll even color-coordinate them!

But WHY would you want to organize cubes???? They don't need a union!!!! You will just piss off the circles......... Nice review!

Well, I use it for shoes by the door but some people put wine bottles in it. One of the websites say "For storing shoes, socks, mail, knick knacks and more". I love it. It gets quite dusty though because the espresso color is so dark. There are a lot of other colors to choose from though.
